Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and certified Safe School Officer to serve in Tallahassee, FL. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure school environment by proactively monitoring and responding to potential threats and supporting students and staff through effective conflict prevention and emergency management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and enforce school security protocols.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students and staff.
  • Prevent and deescalate conflicts on school premises.
  • Conduct safety drills and training exercises.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and maintain proper documentation.
  • Qualifications:Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Background in military, law enforcement, or certified security training.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of combined experience in military, law enforcement, corrections, security, or emergency response (including first responders).
  • Proficient in:
  • Firearms and tactical training (Advanced).
  • Emergency response systems and protocols (Intermediate).
  • Incident documentation tools (Intermediate).
  • Physically able to stand, walk, and patrol both indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English.
  • Key Competencies:
  • Crisis management and problemsolving.
  • Effective communication and relationship building.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and school safety policies.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
  • Must hold active: D, G, DL, and CCW licenses.
  • Must possess:
  • Guardian Safe School Officer Training Certificate (Optional)
  • Valid FDLE Certification (Mandatory)
  • Other Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must pass:
  • Drug test (per s. 112.0455)
  • Psychological evaluation (per Chapter 490, FL statutes)
  • Background check
  • Must own a personal firearm, duty belt (Level 3 retention holster), and 5 magazines.
