Job description

Position: Building Maintenance Technician

Location: Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services

Position Status: Full Time

Schedule: Monday โ€“ Friday, Some Weekends and Evenings

Category: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Supervisor: Reports to the Cemetery Grounds Manager, Director of Operations or other supervisor as assigned.

Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of activities in the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of CFCS buildings and facilities and provides technical support to Cemetery Grounds staff.

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance work involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, and heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) tasks in the repair and maintenance of CFCS buildings and facilities.
  2. Maintain and repair lighting systems in buildings and facilities, including parking lots.
  3. Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures/equipment including toilets, pumps, and faucets.
  4. Install and modify modular furniture configurations, including electric supply; install, repair, and paint/stucco sheetrock.
  5. Inspect and repair doors, locks, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs/down spouts/gutters, and ceilings; inspect various maintenance projects.
  6. Performs exterior facility cleaning as needed.
  7. Work collaboratively with outside vendors and contractors in identifying unusual problems and/or maintaining and repairing CFCS facilities and buildings.
  8. Report potential safety problems, clean up spills and unsafe conditions as identified.
  9. Repair and maintain ice machines, high pressure wash systems and pumps, and a variety of stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, laundry washers/dryers and related small appliances.
  10. Perform set ups for events as needed.
  11. Performs carpet and upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning and other skill-based cleaning as needed.
  12. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must hold a valid California Driver's License.
  2. Must be a Catholic in good standing.

Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  2. 1-3 years of hands-on facility maintenance experience required.

Ability:

  1. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  2. Read blueprints and manuals; work from rough sketches; prepare rough sketches.
  3. Maintain records related to work activities.

Skills/Knowledge:

Practicing Catholic with knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church; Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); excellent interpersonal and phone skills; great organizational skills; ability to maintain strict confidentially; professional temperament and appearance; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; ability to work and relate to a variety of personalities and cultures with diplomacy, friendliness and poise; able to work in a team-oriented environment; handle multiple assignments consecutively and prioritize workload.
