What is full time captioning?

Full time captioning refers to the role of creating real-time or pre-recorded captions for audio and video content as a full-time job. Captioners listen to spoken words and transcribe them accurately so that the content is accessible to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or for viewers who prefer written text. This work can involve live television broadcasts, online videos, webinars, and classroom lectures. Full time captioners often use specialized software and may work in-house or remotely. The job requires excellent listening skills, fast and accurate typing, and a strong command of grammar and spelling.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time captioner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Captioner, you need excellent listening skills, fast and accurate typing abilities, and a strong command of grammar and spelling, typically supported by a relevant degree or experience in transcription or language services. Familiarity with captioning software, audio editing tools, and sometimes certification such as Certified CART Provider or Certified Broadcast Captioner can be valuable. Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to focus for extended periods are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills ensure that captions are precise, timely, and accessible, directly supporting viewers who rely on accurate text representation of audio content.

What are some common challenges faced by full time captioners, and how can they be managed on the job?

Full-time captioners often encounter challenges such as maintaining accuracy and speed, especially during live broadcasts or events with fast-paced dialogue. Managing background noise, multiple speakers, and technical jargon can also increase the complexity of the work. To address these challenges, many captioners rely on specialized software, continuous training, and close collaboration with audio engineers and content producers. Effective time management and regular breaks can also help maintain focus and prevent burnout in this detail-oriented role.

What is the difference between Full Time Captioning vs Part Time Captioning?

Job description

Job Title : Product Consultant (Autonomous Systems)

Location : Mountain View / San Jose, CA (Hybrid)

Duration : Full Time

Job Description :

Roles and Responsibilities:

Wipro is seeking a high-caliber Principal Product Consultant to bridge client engineering (Autonomous Driving Software, Foundation Models, Behavior/Planning) and Wipro’s global operations delivery teams. In this strategic role, you will be embedded directly with client engineering teams in Silicon Valley to translate complex non-perception requirements (e.g., End-to-End Foundation Models, EMMA architectures, open/closed-set behavior categorization, and VLM captioning) into scalable operational systems.

You will act as a thought leader, drastically reducing client Program Manager bandwidth, driving quality/productivity architectures, and co-engineering operational workflows alongside your counterpart in India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Client Alignment & Thought Partnership: Serve as the primary technical product interface to client Engineering (Autonomous Systems, ML Evaluation, Behavior/Planning). Move Wipro’s positioning from an operational vendor to a co-engineering strategic partner.
  • Non-Perception & ML Workflow Architecture: Deconstruct complex, high-ambiguity client ML requests (EFMs, EMMA, open-set behavior tagging, trajectory prediction, VLM scene captioning) into standardized edge-case taxonomies, tooling specs, and evaluation pipelines.
  • Client PgM Bandwidth Offloading: Direct ownership of requirement gathering, technical policy writing, edge-case resolution, and triage drastically reducing the client PgM’s coordination overhead.
  • Global Operations Enabling: Work synchronously with the Senior Product Consultant (India) to translate client engineering intent into operational playbooks, automated validation checks, and frontline training modules.
  • Continuous Process & Tooling Optimization: Analyze quality and throughput metrics to recommend tooling upgrades, automated pre-labeling features, and optimized annotation/eval workflows directly to client tooling teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 10–15+ years in Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics, or Advanced AI/ML Systems, with at least 5+ years in Product Management, Technical Program Management, or Solutions Architecture focused on AV Data/Perception/Behavior.
  • Domain Expertise: Deep hands-on knowledge of Non-Perception AV workflows: Behavior/Planning labeling, Foundation Models (EFM/EMMA), Open/Closed-Set taxonomy design, RLHF/Human-in-the-Loop ML evaluation, and VLM/LLM captioning pipelines.
  • Technical Depth: Familiarity with ML Evaluation frameworks, edge-case triage, AV perception-fused streams (Lidar/Camera/Radar), and data pipeline architectures.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven track record of working directly with Principal/Staff AV Engineers and Technical PgMs at top autonomous driving companies.
  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (MBA preferred).

Thanks & Regards
