Provides electronic maintenance to all areas of Memorial Health System as assigned.  Insures that work is completed per established policies/procedures, work order specifications and appropriate codes.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education:

        Associate's Degree in Electronics, Electronics/Electrical Certification/License, or completion of an apprenticeship program or 10 years of experience required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

        Must possess valid Illinois driver's license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).

Experience:

        Four years experience with electronic equipment repair required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

        Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply technical information from technical manuals and schematics pertaining to the operation, repair and maintenance of equipment/apparatus.

        Demonstrated ability to read, understand and apply complex building codes such as NFPA and Joint Commission.

        Must apply color discrimination necessary to differentiate wire colors.

        Must possess routine hand tools used by an electronic technician.

        Knowledge of basic mechanical applications.

        Have basic computer knowledge.

        Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for long periods of time

Responsibilities
  • Applies knowledge in the use, operation and application of typical test instruments including digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, function generator and various instruments necessary for the calibration, repair and troubleshooting of electronic equipment effectively and efficiently.
  • Applies knowledge in the operation and application of diagnostic equipment for digital control equipment on hospital computer systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and makes major repairs on electronic equipment effectively, efficiently, and per code and specification.
  • Repairs and installs present electronic systems and equipment as directed to include nursing call systems, intercom systems, paging, communication systems, and fire alarm systems.

  • Interacts with patients and Medical Center personnel in a courteous, helpful, cooperative professional manner and follows Code of Conduct of Memorial Medical Center.
  • Maintains appropriate dress and appearance, projecting a positive image of the Medical Center.
  • Follow applicable codes; Infection Control, JCAHO, NFPA.
  • Coordinates assigned work to meet the needs of customers, patients and visitors and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates engagement by assisting with completing division goals.
  • Develops efficient and effective work practices that utilize time and material efficiently.
