The Child Development Center at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish seeks an exceptional candidate to protect, provide care for, and positively engage with young children in our childcare center. The ideal candidate for this position will enjoy working with children in classrooms of all age levels, be flexible in moving from classroom to classroom as needed, have the physical strength to move furniture and other heavy objects, the skill to assemble items purchased for use in the center, the ability to perform minor maintenance tasks, and have minimum of 1 year work experience at a licensed childcare center. The schedule for this position is a split shift with working hours being 7am-Noon and 3pm-6pm, Monday-Friday.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
Supervise children in your care at ALL times-ensuring health and safety.
Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities while relating to them with courtesy, respect, patience, and acceptance.
Prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing, while permitting the child to learn and explore.
Maintain good communication with parents through the brightwheel daycare app and face-to-face encounters during drop-off and pick-up.
Perform tasks such as taking out the trash, washing dishes/bibs, performing minor cleaning, and preparation of snacks.
Assist with or perform activity planning, including crafts and sensory development exercises.
Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined by the Child Development Center, the Diocese of Austin, Health and Human Services (Licensing), and the Health Department to assure compliance for state certification and accreditation.
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church - College Station, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church - College Station, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Working Conditions:
• All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
• The Parish is an at-will employer.
• All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free.
• Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
• Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
• Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Able to work an 8-hour shift, 7am-Noon and 3pm-6pm, Monday - Friday
Complete up to a minimum of 30 hours of required training each year (provided by center)
At least 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare facility
CPR/First Aid Training Certification
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
