Job Summary:

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing techniques, processes, and procedures for controlling the desired level of quality for all materials, batching, processing, and products. The FSQA Manager will be responsible for ensuring all Quality related programs are being met and will work with other Department Managers to ensure risk areas are identified and mitigating SOPs are in place and followed. The FSQA Manager will act as the SQF Practitioner for the company and is responsible for coordinating with all internal departments as well as suppliers, vendors, and customers, to resolve food safety and quality concerns, along with ensuring compliance with all regulatory and auditing programs. Ensures compliance with HACCP, SQF, FDA and other relevant standards.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all elements of a robust Quality program ensuring compliance to and developing & implementing policies and procedures (SQF, Dept of Ag, FDA, GMP, HACCP, Organic, Allergen and FIFO product handling) and creating SOPs for those areas.
  • Inspect the plant on a routine schedule, monitor deficiencies and track corrective actions. Lead Food Safety team with GMP and Food Safety focused projects.
  • Establish and maintain detailed written procedures for the Sanitation Team, including cleaning of all processing equipment and facilities. Perform verification and validation activities on the program.
  • Train employees as required for food safety and/or quality related topics.
  • HACCP verification and validation activities. Perform HACCP Hazard Analysis on any new ingredients or processes.
  • Lead regulatory audits, third party inspections, SQF audits, and customer inspections.
  • Monitoring quality on production floor.

Requirements:

         Previous experience with PCQI, HACCP and Internal Audit certifications.

         Experience leading third party regulatory agencies such as AIB, GFS, SQF, NYS Department of Food and Agriculture, and FDA preferred.

         Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.

         Strong presentation, communication, organization, and time management skills

         Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with heightened attention to detail.

         Must be current on Food Safety (FSMA, HACCP, HARPC, GFSI based audit) or ability to obtain and maintain certifications

         Relevant degree with at least 5 years or related industry experience
