Position Summary

Apex Plumbing Pros is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing excavation team. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment-including backhoes and mini excavators-to perform residential and commercial sewer and water line repairs and replacements. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including backhoes and mini excavators, on residential and commercial job sites.
  • Perform excavation work for sewer and water service repairs and replacements.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and Apex Plumbing Pros safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with excavation crews to complete projects efficiently and safely.
  • Load, unload, transport, and properly secure equipment on trailers according to company guidelines.
  • Inspect, maintain, and perform routine care of excavation equipment.
  • Work safely in confined spaces and open trench environments.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on job sites when necessary.
  • Complete projects within established timelines while maintaining quality workmanship.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or utility environment.
  • Comfortably operate an E-35 Excavator
  • Experience with trenchless water, sewer, or gas line installation and repair.
  • Experience with residential and commercial excavation projects.
  • Ability to safely load, unload, and transport heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding of excavation safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and open excavations.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
