Job description

Atlas Disposal Industries is a leading, independently owned waste management company with over 25 years of experience serving communities in California, Utah, and Arizona. Committed to environmental stewardship and supporting local communities, Atlas Disposal offers a stable and supportive work environment. As a Welder, you will play a key role in repairing and refurbishing trash and recycling containers, ensuring they meet company standards and contribute to efficient waste management operations. This is a full-time, in-shop position with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, ideal for individuals seeking hands-on work in a team-oriented setting.

Responsibilities
  • Repair and refurbish Front-Load and Roll-Off containers according to company standards.
  • Construct, repair, and refurbish carts as needed.
  • Manage the staging area for bins delivered by the Bin Delivery Driver and place completed bins in the ready line.
  • Paint containers as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard and shop area, including trash pickup, sweeping, and moving containers.
  • Complete required paperwork for repairs, including documenting parts usage and repair times.
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment safely.
  • Perform other maintenance-related tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of relevant welding experience.
  • Proficiency in welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, and brazing on various materials.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely, including hammers, scrapers, wrenches, grinders, sanders, welding machines, and cutting torches.
  • Experience with flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching metal and plastic parts.
  • Ability to work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to pass a certified state of California forklift safety course.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and perform painting tasks on containers.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and perform well under pressure.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, move containers up to 5 cubic yards on casters, and perform tasks requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing ladders.
  • Comfort working in a shop environment with exposure to occupational risks such as cuts, burns, dirt, odors, noise, and occasional weather extremes.
Compensation

$21.00 – $23.50 per hour
