We help businesses and municipalities reduce and divert waste, lowering disposal costs and fueling local supply chains by ensuring materials are recovered, recycled, and reused.
About the Role:
The Driver Helper assists the driver by safely loading bins and materials onto the truck, ensuring proper organization and safety procedures. This role involves heavy lifting, walking, and working in various weather conditions. Key duties include route navigation, performing physical labor, adhering to safety guidelines, and maintaining a clean work area.
Shift: M-F, Occasional Saturday 3AM-3PM (Job Type: Full-time) | Location: Austin, TX

Responsibilities:
  • Ride along assigned recycling collection routes with driver.
  • Load and unload recyclable materials, (such as paper, plastics, glass, metals).
  • Ensure proper handling of bins, carts, and containers to prevent spills or damage.
  • Identify and separate non-recyclable materials when necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to residents' or businesses' questions courteously.
  • Assist with navigating routes and ensuring all stops are completed.
  • Comply with safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Report any route issues, accidents, or hazards to the driver or supervisor, promptly.
  • Processing equipment cleanup at the end of each shift.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the use of basic Personal Protective Equipment like a hard hat, reflective vest, steel toe boots, ear and eye protection, utility gloves, and arm preferred.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in an industrial recycling facility preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Normal work environment is a recycling plant, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

  • Required to use motor coordination with arms, hands, fingers, and legs.
  • Required to engage in physical activity that includes pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting objects more than 80 pounds.
  • Required to work from ladders or raised platforms.
  • Required to stand or work on concrete floors most of the workday.
  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
  • Normal setting for this job is material recycle facilities, repair/maintenance facility outdoors or other facilities.
