JOB DESCRIPTION – Qualified Professional – PSR

Any job description distributed by Spring Life Behavioral Care LLC (SLBC) is not inclusive of all duties that the employee will be required to perform. A PSR Paraprofessional-Paraprofessional (PP) will possess the following qualifications and carry out the subsequent duties as follows:

Direct Supervisor:

The PSR Qualified Professional (QP, PSR) reports to the Clinical Director

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Purpose of the Position:

The PSR QP will facilitate the PSR program. The program shall be under the direction of a person who meets the requirements specified for QP status according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104. The QP is responsible for supervision of other program staff, which may include APs and Paraprofessionals who meet the requirements according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104 and who have the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the population and age to be served.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation is a structured day program for adults with psychiatric disabilities designed to enhance the vocational, educational, leisure and self-help skills of the participants. This program focuses on developing skills and resources related to life in the community and increasing the participants’ ability to live independently, manage their illness and participate in community opportunities related to functional, social, educational, and vocational goals. Supervision shall be provided by Clinical Director.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (Not Human Services field) & 4+ years full-time experience with population served OR
  2. Bachelor’s degree (in Human Services field) & 2+ years full-time experience with population served OR
  3. Master's Degree or Higher & 1+ years full-time experience with population served.
  4. License, Provisional License, Certificate, Registration, Permit issued by governing board regulating human service profession.
  5. Facilitating relationships and serving as a link between the company, parents, guardians, local agencies, and the community
  6. Minimizing the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with the recipient's daily living and personal development, providing supportive counseling.
  7. Supporting the client in the development of various skill building activities, including daily and community living skills, socialization skills, adaptation skills, and behavior and anger management
  8. Participating in a first responder on-call system available to consumers and/or his/her natural support network on a 24/7/365 basis; coordinates "first response" resources according to consumer need and the PCP
  9. Performing Case Management functions of linking and arranging for services and referrals
  10. Working closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication and providing feedback, standardizing procedures, and expediting PCP implementation.
  11. Ensuring that all initial reauthorizations for services occur in a timely fashion.
  12. Monitoring utilization of service to ensure that it is effective, appropriate, and within the limits set forth in both rule, PCP, and the service authorization.
  13. Must a have valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  14. Provide psychosocial rehabilitative and pro-educational activities for high-risk intervention consumers. Engage assigned consumers in skill building including daily and community living skill; socialization skills, adaptation skills, development of leisure time interests/activities, symptom management skills; wellness education and work readiness; education substance and behavior and anger management techniques.
  15. Actively participate as a team member in Person Centered Planning and Development. Documents consumer’s daily progress note modeling, positive reinforcements, redirection, de-escalation, anticipation guidance, etc. or recreational activities when used as a strategy to meet clinical goals (e.g., card playing/bingo). Maintain accurate consumer information regarding goals, interventions, service plans and significant incidents and submit all documentation/progress notes to agency through Sharenote electronic system.
  16. Participate in clinical and administrative meetings regarding service implementation and consumer progress and maintain communication with supervisory staff regarding consumer issues and service delivery. And complete all agency training.
  17. Advocate for consumer rights and needs and help consumers link and access community resources.
  18. Ensure compliance with the agency Policy and Procedures regarding consumer safety and consumer rights. Maintain incident and accident reporting procedures. Review and function in accordance with the policies and procedures of Spring Life Behavioral Care, LLC. and Cardinal Innovations Solutions Health Care.
  19. Provide office management coverage and duties until a new office manager is determined.

I further understand that no one other than the Clinical Director of Spring Life Behavioral Care, LLC has the authority to enter into any agreement or contract for employment for any specified period of time, or to make any agreement contrary to the foregoing. Any such agreement must be in writing.
