Position SummaryPreBorn! is seeking a Christ-centered, detail-oriented Proofreader / Editorial Quality Specialist to ensure all written communications reflect excellence, accuracy, clarity, and consistency with our mission. This individual serves as a guardian of quality across donor communications, marketing materials, ministry publications, website content, email campaigns, direct mail, presentations, and internal communications.The ideal candidate possesses exceptional grammar and editing skills, a strong understanding of style guides, and a passion for ensuring that every written piece communicates with professionalism, clarity, and biblical integrity. This role plays a critical part in protecting the PreBorn! brand and ensuring communications effectively advance our mission to glorify Jesus Christ by saving more babies and souls.

Key Responsibilities


Proofreading & Editorial Review

  • Proofread and edit written materials for grammar, punctuation, spelling, syntax, consistency, and readability.
  • Review donor communications, fundraising appeals, newsletters, direct mail, emails, social media content, website copy, reports, presentations, and ministry resources.
  • Ensure adherence to PreBorn!โ€™s editorial standards, brand voice, style guide, and messaging framework.
  • Verify accuracy of names, dates, statistics, citations, scripture references, and ministry information.
  • Identify inconsistencies in tone, formatting, terminology, and messaging.
  • Ensure documents are publication-ready before final approval.

Quality Assurance

  • Serve as the final quality checkpoint for major communications initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain proofreading standards and editorial checklists.
  • Support continuous improvement of communication quality across departments.
  • Recommend improvements to writing clarity and effectiveness while preserving the author's voice.
  • Assist in maintaining consistency across all donor-facing and client-facing communications.

Content Support

  • Collaborate with writers, designers, marketing staff, and ministry leaders to improve communication quality.
  • Review AI-generated content for accuracy, tone, theological alignment, and brand consistency.
  • Assist with formatting and content preparation for publication and distribution.
  • Support large-scale communication projects and campaigns during peak ministry seasons.

Editorial Standards Management

  • Maintain and update organizational style guides and editorial standards.
  • Train staff and contractors on writing standards when needed.
  • Monitor recurring errors and recommend process improvements.
  • Help establish best practices for AI-assisted content creation and review.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Required

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with PreBorn!โ€™s Statement of Faith.
  • Strong commitment to the sanctity of human life and PreBorn!โ€™s mission.
  • 3+ years of professional proofreading, copyediting, journalism, publishing, communications, or related experience.
  • Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors quickly and accurately.
  • Experience working within established style guides (AP Style preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Experience proofreading fundraising or nonprofit communications.
  • Experience in ministry, Christian nonprofit, publishing, or agency environments.
  • Familiarity with SEO content standards.
  • Experience reviewing AI-generated content.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and content management systems.
