Job description

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Indoor Science, an Aftermath Services company - Chicagoland, IL Full-Time
Indoor Science is a 20+ year Chicago-area industrial hygiene and indoor air quality consulting firm - and we're growing. We're looking for a Certified Industrial Hygienist to join our team and help us take on more of the interesting, high-difficulty projects we're known for: asbestos, lead, mold, indoor air quality, and the occasional genuinely strange investigation that requires real detective work to solve.
What You'll Do
  • Conduct field investigations for indoor air quality, mold/moisture intrusion, asbestos, and lead across a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
  • Design sampling strategies, interpret results, and write clear, client-ready reports.
  • Work directly with clients - property owners, facility managers, contractors, and insurers - as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Take on unique, one-off projects that require creative problem-solving, not just a checklist.
  • Sign off on technical work performed by junior team members.

What We're Looking For
  • Active CIH strongly preferred - but if you're actively working toward your CIH (exam scheduled or in progress), we want to hear from you.
  • Illinois Asbestos Inspector and Air Sampling licenses, or the ability to obtain them shortly after hire.
  • A degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational/Environmental Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • Comfort with the consulting side of the work - talking to clients, scoping projects, and building relationships.
  • Willingness to travel regionally (50%+) and be based in the Chicagoland area.

Why Join Indoor Science
  • A clear, company-supported path to CIH certification if you're not there yet - we cover the prep training.
  • Genuine variety of work - we see more unique and challenging projects than most firms in this space.
  • 20+ years of industry reputation and stability, now backed by Aftermath Services.
  • Real room to grow as our team scales.

Indoor Science, an Aftermath Services company, is an equal opportunity employer.
