Job description

Emergency Communications Manager
The Position
West Chester Township has an immediate need to fill an Emergency Communications Manager position. Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Emergency Communications and Information Technology, the Emergency Communications Manager is responsible for leading and directing the Communications Center operations and staff; and managing all operations of the Township's 911 dispatch communications.
This position will play a vital role in Police, Fire, and EMS operations. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment. This position also requires intermediate knowledge and experience with 911 communications operations.
A standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Since this position supports a 24/7 operation, you may be asked to handle after-hours responses. Quarterly, a visit with 3rd shift is required, but the candidate will be able to flex their schedule to accommodate earlier morning hours.
The pay for this position starts at $86,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organization's Communications Center, which includes: professional development, training, mentoring, performance management, coaching, counseling, hiring, and terminations
  • Conducts timely performance discussions and disciplinary counseling sessions as required
  • Supervises schedule and work assignments for Communications Center Supervisors
  • Develops and recommends business continuity plans/protocols for the Emergency Communications Center
  • Administers, updates and configures Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
  • Recommends and adheres to annual budgets and strategic plans for the Emergency Communications Center
  • Ensures Compliance with Ohio Revised Code, LEADS/CJIS requirements and audits to maintain PSAP status.
  • Ensures Compliance with West Chester Township policies, procedures, and guidelines applicable to responsible disciplines
  • Develops and ensures compliance with West Chester Township and 911 Communications Center policies and procedures
  • Provides requested reports to the Director - Emergency Communications and Information Technology
  • Establishes minimum requirements for and oversees installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and asset management of Communications Center systems

Experience/Education
  • Completion of a secondary education preferred
  • Three (3+) years of supervisor/management experience in a public safety division required; Communications Center experience preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of 911 communications operations, hardware and software
  • Valid Driver's License and Reasonable Insurability
