Job description

Nexโ€‘Tech is seeking a skilled Network Operations professional to support the design, monitoring, and reliability of our Internet, voice, video, carrier grade fixed wireless, and data networks. This position may be filled at either the Technician or Engineer level based on the selected candidateโ€™s experience, technical depth, and ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support carrier grade, fixed wireless, routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and network management systems[JS1] [AR2]
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot IPโ€‘based networks to ensure stability, performance, and reliability
  • Proactively identify and resolve network issues impacting customer service
  • Document and manage IP address schemes and network configurations
  • Support Enterprise customer networks and services
  • Assist with or lead network design, provisioning, upgrades, and expansions (experience dependent)
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource for complex network issues
  • Support regulatory and service requirements, including CALEA

What you bring:

  • Knowledge of Linux, SQL and TCP-IP Protocols and/or Engineering
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Ericsson, Brocade, Fujitsu 1FINITY, and Ciena equipment as well as other common lines
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple work assignments
  • Knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 switching, QoS, MPLS, 802.1Q tagging, and emerging IP LAN and transport protocols
  • Knowledge of network testing software and remote testing procedures
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Education and Experience:

Associate degree in Communications Technology, Computer Information Systems or the equivalent. Plus, three to five years of experience in Wireless technology, LAN/WAN networking, Central Office transport, IP transport, routing and network design, or equivalent experience.
