Job Purpose and Function
The Fuels Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the fuels marketing accounting function and is responsible for maintaining financial information and preparing financial reports in compliance with GAAP and internal reporting requirements. The Fuels Marketing Accounting Manager will lead a team of accounting professionals responsible for all accounting processes, financial reporting and key operational reporting surrounding the wholesale and retail fuel accounting functions within the business. This role will provide leadership to ensure accuracy and adherence to established policies and procedures and partner closely with Operations, Fuel Pricing and Logistics, Treasury and IT to maintain strong internal controls and support business decision making.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Oversee the accounting for the Company's fuel marketing business. Ensure the accurate accounting of fuel sales and loyalty programs as well as fuel purchases, freight and taxes.
  • Manage accounts receivable functions related to billing and collections for management fee (commissioned agent), DTW, rack plus operators as well as receivables from credit card processors.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data for accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger related to the fuels marketing accounting functions within the business.
  • Supervise the monthly closing activities of the Fuel Marketing Accounting team and oversee preparation of monthly journal entries.
  • Perform and supervise the reconciliation of all fuels marketing-related general ledger accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Support the fuels marketing team related to recurring and ad hoc reporting requests around fuel inventory and margins
  • Support the fuels marketing operations team with respect to questions related to financial information submitted by dealers/operators
  • Lead the monthly and annual (including year-end audit) close processes related to fuels marketing accounting
  • Support the annual budgeting process related to gallons, margins and costs for fuels marketing
  • Oversee, monitor, and work to improve accounting procedures related to areas of responsibility. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and drive continuous improvement and process standardization.
  • Manage, train and develop the Fuels Marketing Accounting team and delegate duties to meet departmental and organizational goals.

What We're Looking For
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; Master's degree in Accounting or CPA strongly desired.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US (Wills Group participates in E-Verify)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 5+ years of functional and operational accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience across accounting and/or finance functions.
  • Strong financial analysis, research, and technical accounting skills
  • Strong capability in working with technology, including advanced Excel skills, Power BI and large-scale ERP platforms,
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship or C2C opportunities not available at this time).
  • Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check, including credit check, in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.

An ideal candidate will also have
  • Petroleum marketing or fuel experience in convenience retail or other relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working with PDI
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Availability and Travel
• This hybrid role complies with our company's hybrid telework schedule. Our operating days and hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with in-office days being Tuesday through Thursday, reserving Monday and Friday as work-from-home.
• Occasionally, business needs may require periodic work obligations outside of core business hours and in-office days on work-from-home days.
• This role may require occasional travel, including overnight stays for training, conferences, or other events with reimbursement available for approved accommodations and/or expenses.
