Job description

Description:

Position Summary

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, and reliability of the organization's information systems — including servers, networks, endpoints, cloud/SaaS platforms, and business-critical applications. This is a broad, hands-on role spanning systems administration, network administration, information security, and end-user support. The successful candidate keeps our infrastructure secure and highly available while directly supporting the warehouse and ERP systems that our operations depend on, and manages relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.

Essential Functions

• Administer, maintain, and upgrade servers, networks, storage, and all hardware/software technology assets.

• Install and manage local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), including FTP, DNS, and DHCP services.

• Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID, including Exchange/email, SharePoint, and Teams.

• Provide administration and day-to-day support for the organization's Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP platform, partnering with operations and vendors on configuration, integrations, and issue resolution.

• Perform patch management, system monitoring, and performance/capacity management to maintain uptime and service levels.

• Design, execute, and test backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans, including periodic restore testing.

• Provide security for the organization's technology assets — endpoint protection/EDR, antivirus, firewalls, and vulnerability/patch remediation.

• Manage mobile devices and endpoints through a mobile device management (MDM) solution.

• Provide desktop and end-user support through the ticketing system, escalating and following up to resolution.

• Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and hardware/software/license inventory.

• Manage third-party vendors and service contracts, including renewals, support tickets, and service-level tracking.

Required Qualifications

• 5–10 years of progressive experience in systems and/or network administration.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.

• Hands-on expertise administering Windows Server.

• Proven experience with Microsoft 365/Azure (Entra ID), including Exchange and SharePoint administration.

• Strong network administration skills (DNS, DHCP, FTP, routing/switching, firewalls, VPN).

• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and endpoint security tools.

• Experience supporting or administering a WMS and ERP platform.

• Experience with SQL database management, including writing queries, stored procedures, maintenance, and reporting.

• Experience setting up and maintaining API integrations between business systems (e.g., WMS, ERP, and third-party platforms).

Scripting/automation ability (PowerShell, Bash or Python a plus).

• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

• Strong project management, prioritization, multitasking, organizational, and time-management skills, with thorough follow-up.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+; Microsoft (MS-102, AZ-104); Cisco CCNA; or ITIL Foundation.

• Prior experience in a logistics, distribution, or warehouse environment, including support for RF/barcode scanners and warehouse Wi-Fi.

• Experience administering VoIP/telecom systems and managing EDI integrations.

Travel Requirements

• Travel is required roughly 15%–25%.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The role may require sitting or standing for extended periods, working at a computer, and occasionally lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
