Location: Norfolk, VA
 
 
SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, Lead to design, develop, and document mechanical and electromechanical components and systems in support of Department of Defense programs.
 
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Independently research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and technical manuals to determine the feasibility of designs and applications.
  • Develop technical drawings and documentation packages using industry standards and best practices.
  • Create drawing packages, including Level-3 drawings, block diagrams, Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, 3D models, renderings, and installation drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Analyze specifications and performance requirements to ensure designs can be manufactured using existing methods and processes.
  • Determine the feasibility of designing new components or modifying existing designs while considering cost, schedule, space constraints, manufacturing capabilities, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering change activities throughout the product lifecycle.
 
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer, including:
    • Systems and equipment design.
    • Test and evaluation support.
  • Three (3)+ years of technical experience supporting the design and development of Department of Defense (DoD) systems.
  • Experience using CAD software, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred.
  • Extensive experience with 3D modeling, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Experience supporting Environmental Qualification Testing is preferred.
 
 
The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidateโ€™s suitability for the position.
 
Position Salary Range: $93,000 - $134,000. The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
