General Description
JOIN OUR TEAM AS AN ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING
Duties include engineering, planning, coordinating, and reviewing the work of technical engineering applications submitted by the consulting engineers and planners under the guidance of Project Managers, Professional Engineers and Certified Planners. Engaged in the design and permitting of new plans.
Candidates can expect to be employed under the auspices of the trainee program for approximately 3-5 years (depending on prior experience and aptitude). Upon successful completion of the Professional Engineer Examination (PE), the candidate will be promoted to the title of Engineer I with a minimum starting salary of: $81,046.00 annually.
Essential Job Functions
Will review of engineering consultant's designs, plans, and specifications for various engineering and planners items under the guidance of Project Managers, Professional Engineers and Certified Planners. Assist the supervisors in preparing the review comments for the approval. Helps the supervisors to perform the needed research and often helps the supervisors in the specialized engineering analysis of various engineering and planning items. This position will use various engineering and planning software tools to analyze the various conditions during the review of designs and plans submitted by the consultants. Performs consultant coordination and responds to citizen and public official requests.
Performs other related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering and Planning
  • Knowledge of modern engineering procedures and techniques as they apply to studies and design.
  • Ability to present clear and concise reports, orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with various state and national standard specifications and indexes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to meet and work with the public and consultants and reply to complaints.

Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in the related field with an Engineer Intern certificate from Board of Professional Engineers.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must possess EIT certification from Board of Professional Engineers.

The employer will automatically deduct the employee contributions.
