Job description

The Grass Seed Production Associate is responsible for grass seed and custom mixes for BFG’s Wetsel Seed Brand.


Compensation Data: Non-exempt hourly pay based on experience.

Travel: None

Location: Bloomingdale, GA – 100% Onsite

Shift: 1st Shift M-F: 6:00am-2:30pm, with occasional overtime

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Selects the appropriate seeds from inventory, sets up the machinery, and oversees the packaging process making necessary adjustments to the equipment to ensure weight, quantity or quality measures are met.
  2. Blends, packages and weighs seed according to specification and maintains accurate documentation of germination dates for quality control.
  3. Maintains detailed and accurate records of lot numbers, seed test dates, seed sell by dates, germination rate.
  4. Cleans equipment between production changes using an air compressor to remove dust and seed from packaging area.
  5. Maintains assigned tools and equipment in good working order.
  6. Maintains a clean and safe working environment and enhances space utilization.
  7. Communicates and collaborates with supervisors and co-workers.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.


Physical Environment & Required Competencies:

  • Ability to use and transact in multiple systems and to use Microsoft Excel.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with internal colleagues.
  • Good math skills, especially in applying weight and volume specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
  • Tow Motor certification helpful, lift truck required.
  • This role requires consistent, on-time attendance for scheduled shift. Candidates must be able to reliably meet this requirement.


Education & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
