Common roles include FRP technician, laminator, or engineer, depending on expertise and industry needs. These jobs often require knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and safety protocols for handling FRP products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the FRP position?

To thrive as an FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Technician, you need a solid understanding of composite materials, fabrication techniques, and safety practices, often backed by a high school diploma or technical training in industrial materials. Familiarity with tools such as vacuum infusion systems, resin transfer molds, and hand lay-up equipment, as well as certifications in OSHA safety or composites manufacturing, are typically required. As an FRP Technician, your daily tasks usually involve preparing molds, mixing resins, layering fiberglass or other reinforcements, and curing composite parts according to precise specifications. You may also be responsible for inspecting finished products, performing repairs, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Collaboration with engineers, production supervisors, and quality control staff is common to ensure all components meet industry standards. The role can require manual dexterity and a strong focus on detail, making it both hands-on and quality-driven for those who enjoy working with advanced materials.
