Establishing clear documentation, regular check-ins, and shared tools can help bridge gaps and promote a more seamless workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Front End Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Front End Developer, you need strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, often supported by a degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular, version control systems such as Git, and responsive design tools is typically required. The role, in a nutshell:

We're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help build and scale our Libraries products, a core part of Chainguard's mission to secure the software supply chain.

This role sits within the Experience team, the frontline for all new product offerings. The team operates at a rapid pace, launching and iterating on multiple new products each year. You'll play a key role in taking products from 01 and scaling them to thousands of users, with a strong focus on performance, usability, and developer experience.

What you'll do:
  • Own and build key parts of the Libraries product UI
  • Design and implement high-performance web applications that handle large datasets (millions of packages, versions, and dependencies)
  • Partner closely with backend, product, and design to deliver end-to-end features
  • Build intuitive workflows that make secure software consumption frictionless for developers
  • Contribute to 01 product development, rapidly iterating and shipping new features
  • Leverage AI-driven workflows to accelerate development and improve product capabilities
  • Help shape how developers interact with and trust software supply chains
What we're looking for:
  • 8+ years of experience building modern web applications at scale
  • Deep expertise in:
    • React
    • Material UI (or similar component systems)
    • GraphQL
  • Experience building high-performance UIs that manage large, complex datasets
  • Strong product ownership mindset. You can take a problem space and run with it
  • Experience working with modern frontend infrastructure (e.g., Vercel or similar)
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude, Copilot, or similar)
  • Experience building or integrating AI-driven product features or workflows
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Nice to Have
  • Experience with developer tools, package ecosystems, or registries
  • Exposure to software supply chain security or infrastructure products
  • Experience building data-heavy or analytics-driven interfaces
  • Background in monorepos or large-scale dependency systems
