Job description

Front End/UI Developer

A public sector client of ours in Austin, Texas is looking for a Front End/UI Developer for a 6-month remote contract opportunity that is likely to extend. Due to the nature of the role, they are currently only considering remote candidates local to or around the Austin area. The role involves developing software solutions by studying user information needs, systems flow, data usage, and work processes. You will investigate problem areas and design system specifications, standards, and programming to address them. The primary focus is on Front End/UI application development, enhancement, maintenance, and support for Social Services User Interface applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform Front End/UI application development, enhancement, maintenance, and support for Social Services User Interface applications.
  • Must have experience in developing and testing application user interfaces for ADA/Accessibility Compliance
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, and analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, high-level and detailed design, development, testing, and deployment of new application components as required.
  • Analyze UI frameworks and libraries for configuration and performance tuning opportunities.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain web-based J2EE/Portal applications within the clients' SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) platform using Agile methodologies.
  • Create technical and design documentation as required.
  • Perform system analysis and problem resolution as required.
  • Develop and maintain data and process models as required.
  • Employ contemporary testing methods to ensure applications function properly and without error.
  • Provide technical support for testing and implementation efforts.
  • Participate in program design, coding, and test walk-through meetings to provide input regarding technical standards and customer requirements.
  • Provide application support (defect repair, maintenance, and production operations support) for web-based Java applications in an SOA platform. This includes troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and analyzing software for defects and performance tuning opportunities.
  • Develop and test application code to resolve defects and improve application reliability and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills (8 years):
  • Hands-on experience in Front End/UI development, enhancing and maintaining enterprise-class applications using Angular and/or similar frameworks on the J2EE application development platform.
  • Hands-on experience participating in all phases of the SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle).
  • Hands-on UI development experience implementing Authentication and Authorization, Caching strategies.
  • Proficient in programming languages: HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, CSS3, Bootstrap, SASS, Angular, Typescript, JSON, XML, ES5/ES6, NPM, Maven, and/or other UI frameworks/libraries.
  • Demonstrable experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining an enterprise-level Front End/UI application including complete ownership of the front-end stack (JavaScript/HTML/CSS, Angular, and/or other UI frameworks).
  • Experience implementing client-facing applications with responsive design and development.
  • Experience implementing SPAs with JS or with libraries/frameworks like Angular.
  • Experience in the development of self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components.
  • Strong understanding and experience of fundamental programming concepts like data structures, algorithms, performance, caching, and scalability in the context of web-based UI applications.
  • Experience in developing and testing application user interfaces for ADA/Accessibility Compliance.
  • Experience in implementing best practices in the areas of application design, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Experience in Test-driven development and test creation using frameworks such as Karma, Jasmine, Selenium.
Preferred Skills (5 years):
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot Java Applications.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server 8 or later.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile Development Methodologies (preferably Scrum).
  • Hands-on experience with web applications developed for the Cloud platform.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD methodology.

Hands-on development experience for mobile and tablet platforms
