POSITION: Full-time Senior Full Stack Engineer


Note: This is not a fully remote position. If you do not live in Central Oregon, please include a cover letter stating your ability to relocate and your interest in the greater Bend, Oregon area.


PRIMARY FUNCTION: We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance web applications and cloud-native services from conception to production. This role will be part of a newly formed team focused on delivering internal applications and process improvements that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance employee experience across the organization.


EXPERIENCE:

  • End-to-End Delivery: Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable features across the entire software stack (frontend and backend).
  • Architecture & Code Quality: Drive technical architecture decisions, conduct thorough code reviews, and enforce high standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • API & System Design: Define clean, robust API boundaries and optimize relational or non-relational database structures for high availability.
  • Collaboration: Partner with project management and cloud engineering partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Mentorship: Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience in building complex, production-ready full-stack applications.
  • Frontend Expertise: Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Backend Proficiency: Solid hands-on experience with backend technologies and runtimes (e.g., Node.js, .NET / C#, or Python) and RESTful API design.
  • Databases & Cloud: Working knowledge of relational/NoSQL databases and deployment experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).


Preferred Qualification:

Advanced proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like React, Next.js, or Vue; deep understanding of state management, responsive UI layout, and web performance optimization. Strong expertise in server-side ecosystems (e.g., Node.js, Go, Python, or Java) and building scalable, idempotent RESTful or GraphQL APIs. Practical experience provisioning cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform, OpenTofu, AWS, Azure, or GCP) and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.

Speaking on the telephone approximately 20% percent of workday. May need to shovel snow occasionally outside the office to clear sidewalks, etc.

Continuous sitting, standing, talking, and listening for long periods of time, use of hands in repetitive tasks such as typing and writing, speaking, and hearing for interaction with members and coworkers, clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of member transactions and computer usage, and memory demands in recalling Credit Union policies, services, and state and federal regulations. Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds to move supplies or office equipment, bending, squatting, or kneeling to reach supplies on ground level, reaching above shoulder level to reach supplies overhead.

Employees work in an office environment with average noise levels impacted by computers, printers, scanners, phones, and other surrounding conversations. The credit union is located in Central Oregon and weather during the winter may impact travel. Seasonal fires may impact air quality.
