Job Description
Desk Assistants are guides and resources for our community members, campus partners, and community stakeholders. Desk Assistants provide information, support, and services for community members and demonstrate high-quality customer service and organization skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Be punctual and professional, value customer service, and serve as a community role model by following and enforcing all Residence Life and Augsburg University policies, all responsibilities of the Desk Assistant Job Description, and the Residence Life Staff Code of Ethical Standards.
  • Participate in a Front Desk staffing rotation, as assigned. Front Desk responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
    • Provide quality customer service to community members, staff, and visitors;
    • Maintain all desk logs and forms
    • Maintain all desk amenities available for community member use;
    • Share in any other administrative duties or projects assigned by Residence Life professional staff.
    • Be familiar with campus and community resources to provide information and referrals to community members.
    • Meet regularly with the Community Operations Specialist, and Residence Life team for training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Full participation in staff training before the start of each academic semester, and on a monthly basis throughout each academic semester, is required for all Desk Assistants.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Rate of Pay: $16.45/hour
  • Minnesota Sick and Safe Time
  • Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave
  • Not eligible for health insurance benefits

Qualifications
To successfully serve as a Desk Assistant, you are required to:
  • Students must be currently enrolled at Augsburg and must be work-study eligible.
  • Model successful interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Have a cumulative GPA at or above 2.5 at Augsburg, and maintain good academic standing through the duration of employment;
  • Be in good judicial standing prior to and throughout the period of employment. A violation of Augsburg University policies, local, state, and/or federal laws will result in entering a Performance Improvement Plan or termination of employment;
  • Submit and pass a criminal background check;
  • Live in on-campus at Augsburg University.
