Familiarity with sewing machines, sergers, and design software like Adobe Illustrator or pattern-making tools is common. What is 'from home sewing' as a job?

From home sewing refers to working as a professional sewer or seamstress from your own residence rather than a factory or workshop. People in this role typically make, alter, or repair clothing, home textiles, or craft items for clients, small businesses, or online shops. It offers flexibility, but also requires self-motivation, good sewing skills, and sometimes the ability to market your services.

  • Inspect sewn products for quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications before staging or shipping.
  • Assist with fabric cutting, edge preparation, and other pre-sewing processes as needed.
  • Maintain organization of materials, tools, and workspace to support efficient production flow.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process or quality enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in industrial sewing, preferably in SEG or fabric display production.
  • Strong technical skills with familiarity in sewing machine operation and maintenance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements and stitching.
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings and specifications.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with various types of fabrics and threads used in large-format graphic production.
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques such as hemming, edge taping, and reinforcement for SEG graphics.
  • Familiarity with graphics production workflows and staging environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with industrial sewing equipment and production tools.
