RPSGT Sleep Technician

DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be a key member of the clinical team supporting accurate Patient Education and Diagnostic Studies including PSG, CPAP, BiPAP, BiPAP ST, ASV studies. PSG w/ Oral Appliance titration and PSG w/ Inspire titration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following duties:


• Supports by assisting with Diagnostic Testing OSA education and importance of follow-up care

• Educate patients about Obstructive Sleep Apnea disease management and understanding of criteria for different severity levels of OSA.
• Will be a clinical expert in treatment modalities for each severity level of OSA.
• Understand importance of complete medical history, Epworth scoring, Berlin Surveys, normal versus abnormal BMIs.
• Responsible for assuring patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPPA regulations and patient dignity guidelines
• Inform patients of our continuous care with CPAP Clinic
• Supports and provides patient instruction on correct use, time of study and amount of data required for successful in-home sleep study.
• Supports and provides patient instruction on the use of APAP's, CPAP's and Titrations.
• Creates reports, downloads data, and understands operational and physiological effects of PAP pressures. Creates Titration Reports following Clinician recommendations
• Provide adequate documentation during diagnostic testing for the interpreting physician.
• Complete ISR monthly to ensure you are up to date with scoring rule
• Keep all patient and physician / provider information updated Insurance information, Address Verification

• Assures accuracy and completeness during diagnostic testing, identifies abnormality for physician’s review during interpretation
• Responsible for daily clinical tasks that may require administrative input such as reviewing orders prior to running studies to verify correct study is conducted and authorizations documents in the patients chart

•Maintain cleanliness of the lab and technician room
• Performs additional functions as required.
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:
Required:
• Must possess all of the following active credentials: RPSGT, Maryland State License & Current CPR/ AED card.


• Must possess strong knowledge of evidence-based guidelines on the use of CPAP, BiPAP, ASV and mask interface fittings.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Must possess Maryland State Licensure
• Must possess clinical / physiological knowledge of cardio respiratory system
• Must possess knowledge of obstructive sleep apnea diagnosis, treatment and management.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with capability to conceptualize and develop policies, procedures and workflows.
• Must possess professional image and capability to work with multiple inter-disciplinary departments.
• Must have the skills to defuse escalated situations while remaining poised under pressure
• Ability to prioritize needs and function independently
• Must be able to multi-task well and handle changes in a positive manner
• Must be familiar with in lab PSG and CPAP Titration
• Abide by all sleep center policies and procedures
