Job Summary/Basic Function
Provides general office assistance to the faculty, staff and students who work in or visit the University.
Specific Responsibilities
Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Monitor and respond to departmental email inquiries as assigned.
Provide general information regarding departmental programs, events, and services.
Assist with filing, scanning, copying, and organizing departmental records.
Prepare documents, spreadsheets, and forms using Microsoft Office applications.
Maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
Help track office supplies and notify staff when replenishment is needed.
Enter and update information in departmental databases and spreadsheets.
Assist with maintaining faculty, student, and alumni contact lists.
Verify accuracy of records and report discrepancies.
Help organize and archive departmental documents.
Prepare event materials, nametags, signage, and attendee packets.
Assist with creating flyers, digital signage, and social media content.
Update bulletin boards and departmental displays.
Help gather information for newsletters and promotional materials.
Support outreach efforts for departmental programs and events.
Assist prospective and current students with basic questions and referrals.
Support recruitment and retention initiatives through administrative assistance.
Work Schedule
The Department of Multidisciplinary Studies office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The selected student will work an agreed-upon schedule based on their academic commitments and the needs of the department. Weekly hours will not exceed 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Required Relevant Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED
Required Field(s) of Study
Indiana State University student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
Preferred Relevant Education and Experience
Current student pursuing a major, minor, or certificate within the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (Economics, Gender Studies, International Studies, Multidisciplinary Studies, Philosophy, or Sociology).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints.
Prior customer service and office experience preferred.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General office responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Filing, answering phones, greeting visitors, deliveries, and record keeping.
- Answering phone and direct calls and visitors.
- Completing tasks accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Maintaining confidentiality of personal and University business within the office.
- Delivering documents and paperwork across campus.
- Creating and/or update spreadsheets.
- Operating copy/printer/fax/scan machine in office.
- Completing additional duties as assigned.
