Position Information
Job Title Part-Time Instructor Department Division of Continuing Studies Essential Functions
The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications to establish a part-time instructor pool who may be considered for undergraduate teaching assignments as they become available. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed as instructional needs arise to support our flexible, adult learner-focused programs.
The Division of Continuing Studies empowers adult learners to achieve their academic and professional goals through flexible, high-quality programs designed for today's workforce. Our programs emphasize applied learning, leadership, and lifelong development. The Division is home to the Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Studies (BMS) and the Bachelor of Science in Applied Leadership Studies (BSALS) programs, as well as a range of applied learning and leadership development courses.
We seek instructors who are passionate about working with a diverse population of adult and contemporary learners and who are dedicated to a student-centered, inclusive approach to teaching. Most teaching assignments are offered in online or hybrid formats, with occasional opportunities for in-person courses.
NOTE TO APPLICANTS: This is an open, ongoing posting for temporary (per course), part-time, non-tenured teaching positions to be filled on an as-needed basis as openings become available. Part-time positions are hired via contract each semester. All offers of employment are contingent upon the candidate having successfully completed a background check and educational verification to ensure compliance with our accreditation standards.
Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas:
    • Multidisciplinary Studies
    • Applied Learning
    • Leadership Studies
    • Other approved disciplinary areas (with departmental approval)
  • Design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and high-quality course content aligned with program outcomes.
  • Facilitate meaningful interaction and feedback in online learning environments.
  • Foster a supportive, student-centered classroom culture that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Evaluate student learning and maintain accurate records in accordance with university policies.
  • Collaborate with DCS staff to ensure course quality and continuous improvement.
