  • AAPC certification preferred, with strong knowledge of medical coding systems, diagnosis and procedure sequencing guidelines, electronic health records, HIPAA, and healthcare safety practices.

What You Will Do:
Assign diagnostic and procedure codes to discharged patient records and coordinate follow-up on deficient or delinquent records under the direction of a senior-level employee. Provide age-appropriate service as defined by the department's scope of service.
  • Review, identify, code, abstract, and enter diagnoses and procedures to support reimbursement, data analysis, research, and federal regulatory compliance.
  • Follow up on deficient and delinquent discharge records, request missing diagnosis or procedure information, audit incomplete charts, investigate missing records, and notify the supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete coded information, protect patient confidentiality, follow applicable HIPAA and safety requirements, and perform other duties as assigned.
