Job description

Family Home Health Network, an Affiliate of the Alden Network, is a provider of intermittent Home Health care, palliative care, hospice care and skilled/custodial private care services throughout the Chicagoland area.

The Hospice Biller is responsible for managing all billing activities related to hospice services, ensuring accurate claim submission, compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and commercial insurance requirements, and timely reimbursement. This role is essential to maintaining the financial health of a hospice organization and supporting smooth administrative operations.

THIS POSITION IS HYBRID- MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8:30AM TO 5:00PM

Billing & Claims Management
  • Prepare, review, and submit hospice claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers.

  • Verify accuracy of billing codes, levels of care, dates of service, and patient eligibility.

  • Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims.

  • Correct and resubmit claims as needed to ensure timely reimbursement.

Revenue Cycle & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with CMS hospice billing regulations, including NOE (Notice of Election) and NOTR (Notice of Termination/Revocation) requirements.

  • Track and manage benefit periods, certifications, and recertifications.

  • Reconcile payments, adjustments, and remittances (ERA/EOB).

  • Assist with month-end closing processes and revenue reporting.

Coordination & Communication
  • Collaborate with clinical, admissions, and administrative teams to ensure accurate documentation for billing.

  • Communicate with insurance companies, Medicare contractors, and clearinghouses regarding claim issues.

  • Provide billing updates and reports to leadership as needed.

Documentation & Recordkeeping
  • Maintain accurate patient billing files and financial records.

  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Update billing software and patient accounts with current information.

Qualifications:

  • 1 years of experience in medical billing, (MUST HAVE HOME HEALTH BILLING EXPERIENCE).

  • Requires understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial billing/recovery rules/guidelines as well as HIPAA and compliance related rules.

  • Requires excellent verbal/written communication skills, ability to independently problem-solve, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and adapt to a fast paced and changing environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience with Home Care Home Base experience a plus, but not necessary.
