Job description

THE POSITION Do you want to protect the interest of the public and ensure the integrity of legalized gaming by analyzing potential games. Apply for this Statistician position with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). With our team, you will analyze pseudo random number generators for gaming purposes, evaluating regulatory compliance and the theoretical return for new gaming themes.

Share your skills to help maintain and enhance public trust in legalized gaming with honesty, integrity, and credibility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position is responsible for evaluating the theoretical return for each gaming theme submitted for review. Our team will rely on your particular attention to specific rules involving payout percentages, odds, volatility, symbol weights, bonus triggers, and the specific rules of each game play.

As a Statistician for the PGCB, you will perform the following duties: Analyze Games: Complete sufficient analysis of payback percentages, odds, random number generators, rules, and any other features of each proposed game to ensure compliance with legalized gaming rules and regulations Verify Simulations: Check manufacturer simulations to confirm their accuracy and reliability; verify accuracy of award tables, rules, and game descriptions Determine Outcomes: Use probability, statistics, and permutation formulas to determine the combined outcome of all payouts represented in the submitted program Develop Algorithms: Develop commuter algorithms to assist with mathematical, statistical, and probability calculations required for game analysis Document Findings: Create reports and graphs to document the analysis and findings Support Collaboration: Coordinate with field units to verify that progressive parameters are within compliance Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Statistics or Applied Mathematics or two years of progressively responsible experience in the application of statistical analysis, and programming in SAS or other analytical languages; or Two or more years' experience in gaming product analysis; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a Personal History Questionnaire with a thorough background investigation, including drug screening and the subsequent review and approval by the Board.
