What is Friendly Pets?

Friendly Pets typically refers to a pet care business or service that focuses on providing a welcoming and safe environment for pets, such as dogs and cats. These businesses may offer services like pet boarding, grooming, daycare, and training. Their staff are usually trained to handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring pets feel comfortable and happy during their stay. Friendly Pets may also sell pet supplies and provide advice on pet care for owners. The goal is to make both pets and their owners feel at ease, knowing their furry friends are in good hands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pet care specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pet Care Specialist, you need a genuine passion for animals, basic knowledge of animal behavior and care, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with pet care management software, animal handling tools, and, in some cases, pet CPR/first aid certification is helpful. Strong communication, patience, and attention to detail are valuable soft skills for interacting with both pets and their owners. These skills ensure the safety, health, and well-being of animals while fostering trust and satisfaction among clients.

What are some common challenges faced by pet care specialists at Friendly Pets, and how are they supported in overcoming them?

Pet care specialists at Friendly Pets often encounter challenges such as managing the varying needs and temperaments of different animals, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and effectively communicating with pet owners. The role requires patience, adaptability, and attention to detail. Friendly Pets supports its staff through hands-on training, clear protocols, and a collaborative team environment, ensuring that employees feel equipped to handle these challenges and provide excellent care.

Job description

All About Pets Veterinary Center, a growing West Omaha veterinary clinic, is seeking an Associate Veterinarian. Clients are friendly and interested in our small clinic feel and we want to maintain the personal attention and personalized care for our patients and clients. They want to stay out of the larger and corporate practices and want reassurances that we know, remember and individually care about their treasured pets. Candidate would have future buy in/buy out potential if desired.

At All About Pets we see dogs and cats only. There is no boarding, and grooming is limited to that indicated for pet health and/or if sedation is needed. We see emergencies during office hours only and we refer to local urgent care, emergency and specialty practices. We have digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray and Idexx in house lab with Idexx, Antech and other reference labs, Avimark software and a well stocked pharmacy as well as an online pharmacy. Prescription pet foods currently include Hills, Royal Canin and Purina and we utilize a 3 year vaccination protocol where appropriate. We have a staff of pleasant, happy people willing to help and work for the success of the practice.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and outgoing but still be able to maintain professionalism with the staff and be willing to openly communicate with managment. Good client communication is a must. Candidates must have a current Nebraska Veterinary License and DEA credentials prior to start of work. Interest in/proficient at soft tissue surgery and dental prophylaxis and cleaning, or the desire to develop these skills, is needed. Benefits are available for full time position including health insurance with HSA, dental, vision, vacation and holidays, CE reimbursement, license reimbursement, uniform reimbursement and more. Experienced veterinarians preferred but new grads will be considered. Some mentorship available for new grads.

At All About Pets we strive for the quality of life of our patients AND ourselves, so we've stepped out of the rat race to keep it small on purpose. We have extended appointment times to allow adequate time with the patient and client. If you are interested in this type of practice please e-mail or mail resume, relevant references and contact information. All inquires confidential. Owner is very interested in future buy out candidates.
