Job description

Marketing Coordinator: 4-Legged Kids & Cattails Lodge

Do you have the storytelling instincts of a cat plotting world domination and the relentless hustle of a dog who just heard the treat bag crinkle? Do you get a little too excited about a well-timed Instagram caption, and does the phrase "local SEO" make your heart beat faster instead of your eyes glaze over? If you just nodded along and thought "okay, they're talking to me," we need to talk.

About the Role
  • We're seeking a Marketing Coordinator to be the voice, the visibility, and the growth engine behind two beloved St. Louis pet brands: 4-Legged Kids, St. Louis' most trusted in-home pet care service, and Cattails Lodge, our new luxury cat-only boarding lodge
  • This is a two-brand job for someone who can hold two distinct voices in their head at once...one unapologetically curious and feline, one warm and species agnostic...without mixing them up.
  • You'll be the sole driver of content, campaigns, paid ads, local outreach, and yes, you'll be the one who actually understands what "AEO" means and why it matters. If that sentence made you sit up straighter, keep reading.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and run the content calendar and posting cadence across social platforms for both brands, in each brand's own voice...no copy-paste crossover allowed.
  • Build and launch paid social and Google ad campaigns, and own the numbers well enough to explain them without notes.
  • Use AI tools every single day as part of how you actually work: drafting, researching, reporting, ideating, without ever letting the output sound like a robot wrote it.
  • Keep our local SEO sharp and build out our AEO game, so when pet parents ask an AI assistant "where should I board my cat in St. Louis," the answer is us.
  • Build real local partnerships...vets, groomers, apartment communities, rescues...the kind that pay off for years, not just for a week.
  • Deliver monthly reporting that connects leads, engagement, and occupancy, and bring the story behind the numbers to your 1:1 instead of waiting to be asked.
The Details
  • Salary: $55,000–$68,000/year based on experience, plus a bonus structure tied to real performance.
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Cell phone stipend
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Recognition and bonus opportunities tied to performance
  • 401K
  • Generous paid time off (PTO)
  • Flexible, pet-friendly workplace
  • Opportunities for growth and professional development
  • Direct mentorship from the CEO
  • Supportive, fun, and inclusive team culture
  • Our office sits inside Cattails Lodge, so you'll be working around cats daily (this only works if you genuinely love cats and aren't allergic).
  • Employee discounts on boarding and pet care services
  • Family-friendly policies and scheduling flexibility
  • Schedule: This is a salaried role built around outcomes, not a clock. There's no guaranteed fixed start/stop time...your hours flex around when local outreach can actually be scheduled, campaign deadlines, and seasonal pushes. Some weeks look like standard business hours; others need an early morning meeting or a weekend event. The job is done when the job is done. Your bonus works when you do.
Our Ideal Fit
  • You write clean, sharp copy without being told twice, and you can prove it. This role is judged on the writing sample before anything else.
  • You already live inside AI tools for your daily work, not just as a novelty, and you can talk fluently about SEO and AEO without googling the definitions first.
  • You can hold two brand voices in your head without ever letting them blur...dry and confident for the cat crowd, warm and energetic for the dog crowd.
  • You're self-directed. Once priorities are set, you run with them, and you bring the results back instead of waiting to be chased down.
  • You don't mind picking up the phone or showing up in person. Real outreach is part of the job, not a footnote.
  • You think of this as a salaried role with real ownership, not a punch-clock job. You finish what the day actually needs instead of watching for 5pm.
  • You love cats and can work daily in a cat environment with direct contact. Our office is inside the lodge, so this is a daily reality, not an occasional visit.
  • Prior experience marketing more than one brand, product line, or location at once is a strong plus. Pet industry or local service-business experience is a bonus, but a genuine feel for our brand voice matters more.
Why You'll Love Working With Us
  • You'll build the marketing engine for two brands that people already love, with real ownership over what that looks like.
  • We believe in progress, not perfection, and we're not above a little office banter (or the occasional cat walking across a Zoom call).
  • You'll have room to grow your skills, your title, and your impact as both brands scale.
  • We care about our team as much as we care about our furry and feathered (well, mostly furry) clients.
How to Apply
  • Ready to make two brands sound like themselves at the same time? Complete the application, and don't skip the writing submission which is the fastest way to stand out.
  • Equal Opportunity Employer: We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life, including people of color, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Everyone deserves a spot on the team.
A background check is required as a condition of employment for this role. You will be asked to review and sign a separate disclosure and authorization form if you advance in the process.

What is 4-Legged Kids?

We care for other people’s pets while they work or travel. Our clients trust us and we treat their fur family like our own! We are the largest pet sitting/ dog walking company in the STL area with a diverse team of over 30 pet lovers providing over 2500 visits a month for hundreds of clients from St. Louis city out to St. Charles County. We provide an excellent opportunity for flexible and rewarding work.

What else do I need to know about joining the 4-Legged Kids Team?

We are looking for pet lovers who understand and accept the responsibilities we will place on them- our clients depend on us! We do not just play with cute kitties and puppies. We walk dogs when it's 90 degrees or below freezing out. You may have to carry a dog up and down stairs, lift food bags or search under every couch and bed for a cat. We clean up after them, feed them, administer medication, and go above and beyond for our clients.

This business is variable and schedules will vary from day to day. We realize working under these flexible and changing conditions can be difficult for some people. This is the nature of our industry and your dependability in this area is crucial. If you enjoy change and variety in the workplace then this will be perfect for you!

I can handle that! What else do I need to know?

You will receive ongoing education and training on various aspects of pet care and behavior.. You will be trained to handle unexpected situations in pet care and admin support is a phone call away.

We are looking for mature, responsible people who are reliable, patient, and capable of independent action. We invest time and money into training our employees and require a minimum 6-month commitment… we would rather have you for years! We are #1 in the St. Louis area and look forward to finding out more about you!
