Join Weavers Way as a Kitchen Supervisor!

We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented and experienced individual to work as a Kitchen Supervisor in our Germantown location. This position is full-time with an anticipated 35+ hours per week; open availability required. If you have experience working in a team setting and a passion for great customer service, then we want to hear from you!


Responsibilities Include

  • Meet weekly or as needed with Fresh Foods Manager to best determine standard operating procedures to increase sales, productivity goals
  • Possess the ability to multitask and have a “global” view of all aspects of kitchen operations: This includes personnel management, merchandising and customer service.
  • Produce prepared foods and catering according to daily operations list and established recipes, package, and label items for sale
  • Coordinates production for catering assignments as required at the direction of the Fresh Foods Manager
  • Responsible for prepared foods inventory management
  • Follows procedures for purchasing, negotiating with vendors and suppliers. Ensures that all products are ordered according to predetermined product specifications and received in correct unit count, weight and condition and that all deliveries are performed in accordance with the kitchens receiving policies and procedures.
  • Assist Fresh Foods Manager with labor scheduling as required by projected business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed as needed and labor cost objectives are met
  • Meet departmental standards for production schedules, procedures and quantities
  • Ensure that product labels are accurate, complete, and list all ingredients
  • Maintain a sanitary work space that meets departmental standards
  • Maintain cold bar fully; rotate and discount day old stock to guarantee freshness
  • Obtain Food Safety Certification and have in-depth knowledge of store HACCP plan
  • Ensure that cleaning schedules are maintained and side-work is assigned
  • Be readily prepared for Philadelphia Health Department sight inspection and ensure all procedures for a satisfactory inspection are employed
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Fresh Foods Manager or Store Manager
  • Keep accurate receiving logs, waste sheets, and temperature control logs
  • Participate and lead the training of new department staff
  • Observe all Weavers Way policies and procedures
  • Attend departmental, all-staff meetings
  • Assist with quarterly inventories
  • Complete evaluations as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Prepared Foods Manager
  • Understand and promote the financial goals of the department

  • Addresses areas in need of improvement with department team leader and at team meetings
  • Shares information with team leader on equipment repairs and purchasing as well as contacts suppliers, vendors and equipment repair companies as needed.
  • Supports cooperation between departments
  • Is able to communicate effectively in person and on the phone with co-workers, customers, vendors and suppliers
  • Willing and effective trainer of new staff
  • Able to address customer concerns in an effective and considerate manner
Requirements
  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op.
  • Must be able to work independently of direct supervision and possess ability for complex problem solving and multitasking
  • Has specialized skills such as commercial knife handling and the ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment with proficiency
  • Must have advanced culinary knowledge
  • Computer skills necessary for assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong communications skills with supervisors, staff, and co-op members
  • Exhibited ability to work well in a team setting
  • Knowledge of prepared foods and an exhibited enthusiasm for food
  • Excellent staff development skills and a love for teaching and mentoring staff
  • Be able to reach bend, stoop, remain in a standing position for long periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to work weekends and evening if/as needed
  • Time management skills to balance multiple priorities
  • Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.
