Import Agent

Full-Time

100% In-Office in Peabody. MA
Salary Range: $19.23–$28.46 per hour | Non-Exempt

Position Overview

The Import Agent coordinates international import shipments from origin through final delivery. This role works closely with customers, overseas partners, carriers, and internal teams to ensure shipments move efficiently, documentation is accurate, and customer concerns are resolved promptly.

Schedule: 100% in-office. Weekend or holiday coverage may be required on a departmental rotation based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate international import shipments across air, ocean, and other transportation modes.
  • Communicate with customers, overseas agents, carriers, and vendors regarding shipment status and requirements.
  • Review and maintain accurate import, customs, and shipment documentation.
  • Obtain charges, cargo releases, and other shipment information.
  • Monitor shipments, deadlines, payments, and potential issues.
  • Resolve delays, damages, discrepancies, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain accurate shipment files and documentation in the transportation management system.
  • Provide professional customer service by phone and email.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of import operations and customs documentation.
  • CargoWise or similar logistics software experience preferred.
