Brand & Marketing Lead

TerraFirma

Austin, TX โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

At TerraFirma, weโ€™re redefining how the world moves earth for construction. Founded by former SpaceX engineers and backed by Kleiner Perkins and Bain Capital Ventures, TerraFirma is automating construction to make it faster, cheaper, and safer.

ย

Our Story & Mission

At SpaceX, we were part of the teams that built the largest rocket in human history, launched the largest constellation of satellites ever made, and delivered connectivity to millions of people worldwide. What we learned was simple: infrastructure is everything.

At Starbase, the biggest barrier to launching missions to Mars was not building the rocket. It was how slow, expensive, and complex it was to build the infrastructure around it. We lacked buildings, roads, water, power, communications, and waste management, and constructing them took far more time and resources than it should have.

From a first-principles perspective, that doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be this hard or costly to create the foundations for progress. Thatโ€™s when we realized something important: the same engineering mindset that enabled us to tackle space exploration and mass manufacturing could be applied to infrastructure. By bringing the principles of simplification, iteration, acceleration, and automation to construction, we can unlock a new era in how the world builds.

Accelerating infrastructure unlocks progress across every domain, creating a self-sustaining engine for tackling humanityโ€™s toughest challenges. The innovations we develop on Earth will lay the groundwork for the technologies that one day make settlement on Mars possible.

ย

Job Overview

We are looking for a Brand and Marketing Lead to own how TerraFirma shows up in the world. You will define the narrative, own the marketing budget, build and manage a creative ecosystem, and orchestrate how our story is told across channels and major moments.

You will set the strategy, hire and manage contractors and agencies, and drive the rollout of major company moments such as fundraises, product launches, partnerships, and flagship projects. While you should have strong creative instincts and taste, this is not a hands-on videographer or editor role. Your leverage comes from direction, coordination, and execution at scale.

You will work directly with the CEO to position TerraFirma as the category-defining company in construction automation, attracting top tier talent, partners, customers, and investors.

ย

Responsibilities

  • Own TerraFirmaโ€™s brand, narrative, and channel strategy, ensuring consistency and a high quality bar

  • Own the marketing budget and build the function through contractors, agencies, and eventual hires

  • Plan and execute major announcements and launches across press, social, and owned channels

  • Drive CEO and founder amplification through podcasts, interviews, speaking, and earned media

  • Translate technical work into stories that attract talent, partners, customers, and investors

ย

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of experience in brand, marketing, creative direction, communications, or related roles

  • Proven experience owning brand or marketing strategy end to end

  • Experience managing budgets and external partners (agencies, contractors, freelancers)

  • Demonstrated success launching campaigns, announcements, or brands

  • Strong understanding of modern media, social platforms, and distribution

  • Experience working in or adjacent to technical, industrial, or hardware driven companies

ย

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in robotics, construction, aerospace, defense, or deep tech

  • A strong network across media, creators, and brand agencies

  • Ability to direct production without needing to personally shoot or edit

  • Evidence of building cultural relevance around technical products

ย

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work on site in Austin, TX

  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, scrappy startup environment

  • Willing to work irregular hours around launches, announcements, and critical moments

  • Portfolio, campaigns, or brands you have built are required (not just a resume)

ย

Compensation & Benefits

Base compensation will vary based on factors such as relevant experience and education. Salaries and leveling will be determined on a case-by-case basis if an offer is extended. Our total compensation package also includes equity in TerraFirma. Relocation packages are available to help cover moving costs, if applicable.
