Job description

Position Summary

The Data Analyst Summer Intern will support the collection, validation, and analysis of roadway inventory and condition data across client projects. This role provides hands-on experience working with real-world datasets, helping transform raw data into structured insights that support pavement condition assessments and reporting.

The intern will collaborate with operations, GIS, and QA/QC teams while gaining exposure to AI-driven data tools.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection & Processing

  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and processing roadway data from multiple sources
  • Support data validation efforts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company standards
  • Perform basic data cleaning tasks, including identifying inconsistencies and correcting errors
  • Maintain organized datasets for analysis and reporting

Analysis & Reporting Support

  • Help prepare datasets for Pavement Condition Index (PCI) calculations
  • Conduct basic analysis to identify trends, anomalies, or gaps in data
  • Assist in preparing client deliverables and reports by ensuring data accuracy

AI & Data Validation Support

  • Review AI-generated roadway data within internal systems
  • Assist in validating outputs such as distress types and severity levels
  • Provide feedback that contributes to improving data models and processes

Quality Assurance

  • Support QA/QC processes by reviewing data against established standards
  • Help ensure consistency across datasets and deliverables
  • Participate in improving documentation and data processes

Collaboration & Learning

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including GIS, operations, and QA/QC
  • Participate in team meetings and project discussions
  • Contribute ideas for improving workflows and efficiency
  • Gain exposure to infrastructure data, asset management, and analytics tools

Qualifications

Education

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Engineering, GIS, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field

Experience & Skills

  • Basic familiarity with Excel or other data tools (SQL, Python, or similar is a plus)
  • Interest in working with large datasets and performing data validation
  • Exposure to GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) or AI/data concepts is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
