By focusing on continual improvement, our services remain at the forefront of our industry, and we pride ourselves on delivering our services with the highest degree of integrity.

SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Data Engineer/Python & SQL Developer to support an opportunity remotely.

We are seeking a highly qualified Data Engineer / Python & SQL Developer to support the design, development, and deployment of data engineering and ETL solutions in a mission-focused environment. The successful candidate will bring deep technical experience in Python and SQL, with demonstrated capability building scalable data pipelines and cloud-based integrations using AWS services. This individual will also be responsible for applying sound database design principles through table design and stored procedure scripting, producing high-quality technical documentation, and operating effectively within an Agile delivery model. Experience supporting U.S. Air Force environments and/or possession of relevant Air Force credentials is strongly preferred.

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain data pipelines, ETL workflows, and backend data processing solutions using Python and SQL
  • Implement and support cloud-based data engineering capabilities leveraging AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, and other relevant AWS services
  • Apply leading practices in database design, including schema development, data modeling, normalization, optimization, and data integrity controls
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable, maintainable, and secure data solutions
  • Develop, update, and maintain technical artifacts such as solution documentation, interface specifications, data flow diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery processes, including backlog management, sprint planning, status tracking, and issue resolution through Jira
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, integration, and performance issues across the solution landscape
  • Test ETL Pipelines and Data workflows and perform code review for other Data Engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including developers, architects, analysts, and program leadership, to support successful delivery outcomes

Minimum Position Requirements

  • Strong understanding of database design and data architecture best practices
  • Experience producing clear, structured technical documentation for development and operational use
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams and using Jira to support workflow management
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Consultant/Senior Consultant (or USDC/PDM/Specialist equivalent)

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force programs
  • Existing Air Force credentials and/or ability to work in a secure or controlled government environment
  • Familiarity with secure data handling, compliance-driven delivery, and mission-oriented technology programs
