Interior Design Project Manager - Position Summary\
We are seeking an organized, client-focused Interior Design Project Manager to lead residential interior renovation and restoration projects from concept through completion.
This role blends design coordination, client relationship management, and project oversight. You will guide clients through the design and renovation process, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and aligned with the client’s vision.
The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with clients, has strong design sensibilities, and excels at keeping complex projects organized while maintaining a high-quality client experience.
 

Key Responsibilities
Client & Project Leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Guide clients through design decisions, materials selections, layouts, and finish choices.
  • Present design concepts, mood boards, and material palettes aligned with client goals and budget.
  • Provide regular project updates and manage expectations regarding timeline, scope, and budget.
Design Coordination
  • Develop and refine interior layouts, space planning, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings.
  • Coordinate design intent with contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure accurate execution.
  • Review plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure design elements are clearly communicated.
  • Assist clients with selections of materials, colors, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, and other interior components.
Project Management
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and milestone schedules.
  • Coordinate with contractors, trades, and suppliers to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Track change orders, selections, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and help develop solutions that maintain design integrity and schedule.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
  • Work closely with contractors and trades to ensure work aligns with the design plan.
  • Coordinate delivery of materials, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Participate in site visits to review progress and address design or coordination questions.
Project Completion
  • Oversee final design details and finishing touches.
  • Conduct project walkthroughs and ensure all deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Ensure a smooth project closeout and positive client experience.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $50,000 – $75,000 annually (depending on experience)
  • Performance Bonus: Additional bonus compensation paid monthly based on completed projects
  • Opportunity to increase earnings based on project volume and performance

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7+ years of experience in interior design, residential renovation, or project coordination.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and maintain organized schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and design suppliers.
  • Proficiency with design and project tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools, plus strong Excel/organizational skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Experience working on residential renovation or restoration projects
  • NCIDQ certification or other professional credentials
  • Knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture, and interior product sourcing
  • Experience coordinating installations or construction phases of interior projects
