What are freelance privacy engineers?

Freelance privacy engineers are independent professionals who specialize in designing, implementing, and maintaining privacy solutions for organizations on a contractual or project basis. They help businesses comply with privacy laws and regulations, assess data protection risks, and build systems that safeguard personal information. Unlike full-time employees, freelance privacy engineers work with multiple clients and offer flexible, expert support tailored to each organization's needs.

What are the biggest challenges freelance privacy engineers face when working with multiple clients?

Freelance privacy engineers often juggle diverse projects, each with distinct data protection requirements and regulatory obligations. One major challenge is staying updated on varying global privacy laws and ensuring each client's compliance while adapting to different organizational cultures and technical stacks. Additionally, freelancers must efficiently manage communication and documentation to align stakeholders and maintain clear records of privacy assessments and recommendations. Building trust quickly and integrating smoothly into new teams is also essential for project success.

Job description

Weโ€™re looking for a Digital Marketing Manager who can bridge the gap between healthcare-grade digital design and performance-driven marketing. This individual will own the development and optimization of websites and campaign landing pages, while supporting lead generation and paid media strategies that connect patients, providers, and clinics with innovative health solutions. Youโ€™ll build high-performing web experiences, manage external resources, implement lead-gen infrastructure, and optimize campaign performance within the unique regulatory considerations of healthcare marketing.

Key Responsibilities for a Digital Marketing Manager:

  • Web Development Management: Build, optimize, and maintain HIPAA-compliant landing pages and microsites using Webflow, WordPress, HubSpot, and e-commerce platforms. Collaborate with designers, clinicians, and copywriters to implement responsive, accessible digital experiences while ensuring compliance and data privacy (cookie consent, tracking opt-ins).
  • Lead Generation & Marketing Ops: Implement lead capture forms, A/B testing, and funnel tracking for patient acquisition or provider outreach. Integrate websites with CRM or marketing automation platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Klaviyo). Monitor CPL, conversion rates, and bounce rates to deliver actionable insights.
  • Paid Media Support: Collaborate with media teams or agencies to deploy and optimize Google, Meta, Trade Desk, and healthcare-specific ad campaigns. Support pixel setup, UTM tagging, tracking setup, and lead attribution. Partner with compliance/legal to ensure ads meet medical ad policies.
  • Vendor Management: Manage overflow freelance developers and designers to meet campaign deadlines. Vet and onboard new tools or platforms while maintaining a smooth feedback loop between internal marketing stakeholders and external creative/technical teams.

Required Qualifications for a Digital Marketing Manager:

  • 2โ€“4 years of hands-on Web development experience (portfolio required).
  • Solid understanding of responsive web design, mobile-first, and HTML/CSS/JS basics.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors or agencies.
  • Understanding of lead-gen workflows, digital funnels, and healthcare-specific user journeys.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare advertising guidelines, and digital consent practices.

Preferred Qualifications for a Digital Marketing Manager:

  • Experience in a healthcare, wellness, or medtech environment.
  • Exposure to performance media strategy (Google Ads, Meta, programmatic) and campaign reporting.
  • Proficiency in Webflow CMS, GA4, Tag Manager, and conversion tracking setup.
  • Understanding of patient conversion flows, provider referral marketing, or direct-to-clinic campaigns.
