How much do freelance podcast jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 20, 2026, the average hourly pay for freelance podcast in the United States is $47.71, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $24.28 and $61.78 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a freelance podcaster?

A freelance podcaster is an independent audio content creator who produces, hosts, edits, and distributes podcast episodes on a contract or project basis, rather than being employed by a single company. They may work for multiple clients, create their own shows, or offer services such as editing, scripting, or marketing. Freelance podcasters often manage all aspects of production, from planning and recording to publishing and promotion, and may also be responsible for finding sponsorships or monetizing their content.

What are freelance podcast jobs?

Freelance podcast jobs include a variety of positions that help with the production and distribution of podcasts. In this role, you may write scripts for podcasts, select sound effects, conduct interviews, help manage talent, or otherwise provide independent support for companies as described in your contract. Some freelance podcast jobs are short-term positions that produce content for specific needs, such as helping write easier material to train new talent with, while other positions are long-term roles where you may provide audio and story content for an ongoing story or series. Most freelance podcast jobs are time-sensitive roles because companies prefer to update podcasts on a predetermined schedule, so you may be asked to work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays as necessary. This job title refers to working as a freelancer for podcasts, not to working for podcasts about freelancing.

What are some of the unique challenges freelance podcast producers face when managing multiple clients?

Freelance podcast producers often juggle several clients at once, which can make scheduling, communication, and meeting varying expectations a challenge. Each client may have different content styles, deadlines, and production standards, requiring strong organizational skills and adaptability. Additionally, freelancers need to manage their own business operations, such as marketing, invoicing, and client acquisition, while ensuring consistent audio quality and storytelling across projects. Building clear workflows and maintaining transparent communication with clients can help mitigate these challenges and foster long-lasting professional relationships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance podcaster, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Podcaster, you need strong storytelling abilities, audio editing skills, and a solid understanding of your target audience, with no formal qualifications required but experience in media or communications being valuable. Familiarity with audio editing software (like Audacity or Adobe Audition), podcast hosting platforms, and basic recording equipment is essential. Excellent communication, creativity, and self-motivation help you build engaging content and grow your audience. These skills are crucial for producing high-quality, captivating podcasts that attract listeners and stand out in a competitive market.

What is the difference between Freelance Podcast vs Freelance Audio Editor?

Both roles require audio skills, but the podcast creator handles content planning and hosting, whereas the audio editor specializes in sound quality and editing tasks.

Job description

About the Role
We are hiring a Manager, Growth Marketing to help execute and elevate PartnerCentric's brand presence across the performance marketing industry. Reporting to the VP, Growth Marketing, you will lead the execution of podcast marketing, social media, content strategy, industry events and lifecycle marketing that strengthen our reputation, build relationships, and support business growth.
Working closely with the VP of Growth Marketing, CEO, Sales, Client Services, Product, and external partners, you'll ensure PartnerCentric consistently shows up in the right places with the right message - and nurtures the audiences who find us. You'll coordinate campaigns, manage external relationships, execute brand initiatives, and optimize programs that increase awareness, engagement, and market credibility.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing ideas to life, managing multiple initiatives, building relationships, and turning strategy into measurable execution.
This is a fully remote position, but candidates must reside and physically perform the work within the United States. We are only considering applicants who possess unrestricted, independent work authorization that does not now, or in the future, require employer sponsorship.
A Week in the Life
Monday Review podcast, social, event, lifecycle, and brand performance with the VP of Growth Marketing. Align on weekly priorities, upcoming campaigns, executive opportunities, and project timelines. Coordinate with internal teams and agency partners.
Tuesday Execute podcast marketing campaigns, coordinate guest outreach, prepare executive communications, and support speaking opportunities, media placements, and award submissions. Repurpose content across social and marketing channels.
Wednesday Meet with podcast guests, conference organizers, strategic partners, and vendors. Coordinate upcoming events, sponsorships, executive appearances, and relationship-building opportunities.
Thursday Partner with Marketing, Sales, Client Services, and Product teams to execute webinars, case studies, newsletters, HubSpot nurture/lifecycle campaigns, partner campaigns, customer stories, and thought leadership initiatives that support company priorities.
Friday Review campaign performance, podcast growth, social engagement, event metrics, lifecycle email performance, and project status. Share recommendations and next steps with the VP of Growth Marketing while preparing priorities for the following week.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Management
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar spanning podcast, social, PR, events, and lifecycle marketing to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging.
  • Repurpose long-form content (podcast episodes, webinars, case studies) into articles, social posts, newsletters, and sales enablement assets.
  • Own the end-to-end content management process: intake, drafting/editing, review and approval workflows, publishing, and archiving across the website, blog, and content library.
  • Own the case study program end-to-end: identify strong customer stories, coordinate with Client Services and Sales to secure customer participation, conduct interviews, and manage drafting, approval, and publishing.
  • Maintain a content asset inventory (blogs, one-pagers, case studies, videos, decks) and ensure assets stay current, on-brand, and easy for Sales and Client Services to find and use.
  • Manage relationships with freelance writers, editors, and designers supporting content production.
  • Ensure content is optimized for SEO, accessibility, and distribution across channels.
Social Media Management
  • Own the day-to-day management of PartnerCentric's social media channels (LinkedIn, X, etc.), including content calendar, scheduling, and publishing.
  • Grow follower base, engagement, and share of voice through consistent, high-quality organic content.
  • Support executive/founder personal brand presence on social platforms.
Podcast Strategy & Marketing
  • Manage the day-to-day execution and promotion of PartnerCentric's podcast.
  • Develop promotional campaigns that increase audience growth, engagement, and reach.
  • Source, recruit, and coordinate podcast guests aligned with company priorities.
  • Coordinate podcast appearances for company executives on external shows.
  • Repurpose podcast content into videos, articles, newsletters, social content, and other marketing assets.
  • Track podcast performance and recommend optimizations.
Events & Industry Engagement
  • Coordinate conference participation, sponsorships, networking events, executive dinners, and partner gatherings.
  • Execute event marketing plans that maximize visibility and relationship-building opportunities.
  • Manage event logistics, timelines, vendors, and promotional activities.
  • Support partner marketing initiatives tied to conferences and industry events.
  • Track event performance and provide post-event recommendations.
Lifecycle Marketing (HubSpot)
  • Build, manage, and optimize lifecycle email campaigns (newsletters, nurture sequences, event/webinar follow-ups) within HubSpot.
  • Segment and maintain contact workflows to support targeted, relevant communications across the funnel.
  • Partner with Sales and Client Services to align lifecycle messaging with the customer journey.
  • Track email performance (opens, clicks, conversions) and iterate on messaging, cadence, and segmentation.
  • Maintain HubSpot hygiene and ensure marketing/sales alignment on lead handoff and scoring, where applicable.
Marketing Operations & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Growth Marketing and marketing operations team on integrated campaigns supporting awareness and demand generation.
  • Manage external agencies, contractors, freelancers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and communications across multiple initiatives.
  • Help improve processes for podcast promotion, social media, lifecycle marketing, and event marketing.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
Measurement & Reporting

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience managing agency, vendor, or partner relationships.
  • Comfortable collaborating across marketing, sales, client services, and executive leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to execute with minimal oversight.
  • Analytical mindset with experience measuring campaign and program performance.
  • Understanding and inspired by AI tools (Claude, Lovable).
  • Interest in affiliate marketing, influencer marketing, AI visibility, and performance marketing.

Benefits & Perks

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Remote-first work environment
  • Generous Flex Day policy and paid holidays
