Title: Machine Vision Engineer - 2 Openings
Location: 100% onsite at Corning, NY
Duration: 12 Months
Core hours 8 am - 5 pm. M-F

Interview Process: Two interviews by Teams Meeting. The manager is open to non-local candidates anywhere in the US who are willing to relocate long-term to Corning, NY.

Scope of Position:
A contractor position within the Client Manufacturing Technology and Engineering (MT&E) organization with the purpose of contributing to building imaging systems and developing software and algorithms for processing imaging data. This work supports the inspection and production of various client glass and ceramics products.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Work closely with the measurements group to develop approaches for data manipulation to assist with production and quality feedback.
Train and deploy machine learning models for the processing of measurement system data.
Transfer technology from early-stage development to a product suitable for use in manufacturing.
Create/update documentation for release to production for applications and procedures.
Train engineering, maintenance and operations people how to use and maintain developed applications and procedures.
Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting using data and performance analysis of the deployed applications.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree (equivalent experience will not substitute for this requirement). Prefer MS or PhD in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, EE, ECE or Optics.
Required Experience/Skills: 3-5 years of experience with
Programming ability (C# & Python strongly preferred)
Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and other software architecture concepts
Experience training CNNs and utilizing traditional machine learning methods
Data retrieval, plotting and analysis
Knowledge of image processing algorithms (blob analysis, edge finding, morphology, feature extraction, classification, metrology)
Strong communication and presentation skills (MS Office programs)
Desired Experience/Skills:
Experience with image processing development packages such as Halcon or OpenCV
Knowledge of statistical analysis approaches and MEE concepts
Ability to interface with Database Management Systems
Experience with Metrology, Inspection and Product Quality in support of manufacturing
Optical measurements system development (optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, image analysis, laser, 3D measurement)
Fundamental knowledge of physical optics (principles of optics)
Soft Skills:
Ability to interact effectively with customers & coworkers as well as work independently.
You will need to be results-oriented, a quick learner and be able to multitask effectively.
