Work EnvironmentRemote, freelance or independent consultingRemote, freelance or agency-based
Industry UsageUsed by job seekers to prepare for interviewsUsed by clients to craft resumes for job applications

While both roles support job seekers, a Freelance Interview Coach specializes in preparing clients for interviews through coaching and mock sessions, whereas a Resume Writer focuses on creating compelling resumes to secure job interviews. Both are essential in the job application process but serve different needs.

What are freelance interview coaches?

Freelance interview coaches are independent professionals who help job seekers prepare for interviews. They provide personalized guidance, conduct mock interviews, and offer feedback to improve communication, confidence, and presentation skills. Unlike in-house career counselors, freelance interview coaches work on a contract or per-session basis and often tailor their services to clients' specific industries or job types. Their goal is to help clients present themselves effectively and increase their chances of landing a job offer.

How do freelance interview coaches typically structure their sessions with clients?

Freelance interview coaches often tailor their sessions to each client's needs, but a common structure includes an initial assessment, personalized feedback, and mock interviews. Sessions usually begin with a discussion about the client's goals and challenges, followed by targeted practice on answering common and role-specific questions. Coaches provide constructive feedback and actionable tips, and may also offer guidance on body language, resume refinement, and follow-up strategies. This flexible, client-focused approach helps clients build confidence and improve their interview performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Interview Coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Interview Coach, you need expertise in recruitment processes, strong knowledge of interview techniques, and a background in career coaching or human resources. Familiarity with digital communication platforms, video conferencing tools, and potentially certifications in career coaching (like CPRW or ICF) are highly valuable. Outstanding interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to provide constructive feedback set top coaches apart. These skills help clients build confidence, improve performance, and successfully navigate competitive job markets.

Job description

LEAD EMERGENCY SERVICES TECHNICIAN
Full-Time | In-Person | Field-Based | Paid Certifications
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Are you the technician who sets the standard - or the one who waits to be told what it is?
We are looking for a Lead Emergency Services Technician who takes a water loss, mold job, or board-up from initial inspection to complete documentation - with the crew executing correctly, the drying plan followed precisely, and the PM informed before problems become crises.
If you know how to run a job, lead a crew, and leave every site with documentation so complete the PM never has to call you for what you missed - keep reading.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHO WE ARE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Rainbow Restoration of Chesapeake is a growing emergency services and restoration company serving Hampton Roads. We are part of the Neighborly family of home services brands - national systems, local accountability. The Lead Technician who performs at a high level here has a clear path to growth.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
THE ONE THING
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Execute drying correctly the first time - accurate readings, correct equipment placement, complete documentation - so jobs close faster, rework is eliminated, and margin is protected.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- Drying plan executed precisely on every first visit - no improvised equipment placement without PM authorization
- Initial inspection documented in full before any work begins - PM and estimator have a complete picture before scope is written
- Complete documentation submitted before leaving every site: readings, photos, scope notes, next-day work plan, Day 1 MICA, office confirmation
- All issues flagged to PM same shift - access, structure, mold indicators, customer concerns, equipment damage
- Zero unauthorized equipment extensions - PM authorization confirmed in writing before Day 5 run time is extended
- Crew time entries verified and submitted to PM same day - every shift, without exception
- Crew coached actively every shift - at least one teaching moment per shift, because the team gets better or it stays the same
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
DAY TO DAY
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- Attend Work Order Verification with PM before morning huddle daily - confirm scope and work orders before jobs are deployed
- Conduct warehouse loadout check - all equipment clean, filters fresh, before departure
- Execute and supervise initial inspections, drying plan implementation, moisture readings, mold containment, sample collection, and board-up work
- Upload Day 1 drying log, complete photo sets, and Mitigate readings same day - every job
- Enter daily scope notes and next-day work plan in Dash before leaving the site
- Call office to confirm documentation complete before departure - every job, every day
- Review drying outliers weekly with PM - lessons learned recorded
- Conduct weekly equipment condition checks and fuel usage review
- Give crew technicians specific, feedback on documentation and execution quality weekly
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHO THRIVES IN THIS ROLE
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PROVEN - You have led crews on water mitigation and mold remediation jobs. You have WRT. Your documentation is complete, your readings are accurate, and you have a track record of drying jobs that hit target days.
EMERGING - You have solid field experience and have started taking on lead responsibilities. You do not yet have all certifications, but your execution quality and documentation discipline are strong. You want the structure and mentorship to own the Lead role fully.
Non-negotiable at every level:
- You execute the plan - you do not freelance scope or equipment
- Your documentation is complete before you leave the site - always
- You flag problems to the PM same shift - not the next morning
- You coach the crew rather than just completing your own tasks
- You hold yourself and the crew to safety and PPE standards without being prompted
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT WE OFFER
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and certifications - discussed at interview
- Pay increases tied to performance milestones and certification completion
- Health, vision, and dental insurance
- Paid time off, paid holidays, and 401(k)
- Company vehicle for field use
- Paid certifications based on performance
- Structured 30/60/90-day onboarding - clear expectations from Day 1
- Direct path for growth based on performance
- Monday-Friday; after-hours emergency rotation required
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
OUR HIRING PROCESS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Step 1: Apply - answer all qualifying questions in full
Step 2: Resume review
Step 3: Phone Conversation #1 - 15 minutes, process overview and mutual fit confirmation
Step 4: Pre-hiring assessment
Step 5: Positive Intelligence mindset assessment

This process is more involved than most companies use for this role. That is intentional. We invest in finding the right person because the Lead Tech directly affects every job's quality, documentation, and profitability.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The Lead Tech who earns the PM role here is the one who runs clean jobs, builds the crew, and never leaves documentation behind.
