Job description

St. Mary's Episcopal School seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented Communication Coordinator to support the daily operations and creative work of the Communication Office. This position plays an important role in managing communications projects, coordinating publications and promotional materials, maintaining digital content, and supporting the school's overall marketing and storytelling efforts.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and strong project manager who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual should be dependable, proactive, and capable of balancing administrative responsibilities with creative and strategic communications support while helping ensure consistency in the school's brand and messaging across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the production calendar for publications, marketing materials, and communication projects, ensuring deadlines are met and projects move efficiently from concept to completion.

  • Coordinate the production and distribution of promotional materials, including printed pieces, event programs, invitations, and school communications.

  • Support the creation and publication of content for newsletters, magazines, website updates, email communications, and other digital and print platforms.

  • Maintain website content by uploading articles, photos, videos, and other multimedia assets while ensuring information remains current, accurate, and aligned with the school's brand standards.

  • Edit and proofread communications to ensure polished, professional, and error-free materials.

  • Ensure consistency of the school's visual identity and messaging across all communications and marketing materials.

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support for the Communication Office, including scheduling, project coordination, deadline management, and responding to internal communication requests.

  • Maintain organized files, production schedules, calendars, invoices, workflows, and orders to support efficient operations.

  • Coordinate with freelance photographers, videographers, graphic designers, printers, and other external creative partners to support school communications and events.

  • Organize and maintain photography, video, and digital asset archives for ongoing communications and institutional use.

  • Partner with the Director of Communication to supervise student interns by setting expectations, assigning projects, and providing mentorship and feedback.

  • Support school events, media opportunities, special projects, and other initiatives that advance the mission and visibility of St. Mary's.

  • Collaborate closely with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and families as an active and supportive member of the school community.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field preferred.

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience preferred.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with Canva is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and external partners.

  • A positive attitude, flexibility, professionalism, and willingness to jump in where needed.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this role, you must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with faculty, staff, and others in person and on the telephone.

  • Work in a busy environment, dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

  • Traverse school facilities, including climbing stairs.

  • Lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

  • Work at a desk and computer for extended periods.

  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
