What is a freelance creative producer?

Freelance Creative Producers are independent professionals who oversee and manage creative projects, such as videos, advertising campaigns, events, or digital content, from concept to completion. They coordinate creative teams, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure the project aligns with the client’s vision and goals. Working on a freelance basis means they are self-employed and may work for multiple clients or agencies at once. Their work involves both creative direction and project management, requiring strong organizational and communication skills.

What are some common challenges freelance creative producers face when managing multiple projects simultaneously?

Job description

Full Time | DUMBO, Brooklyn | Hybrid
ABOUT BARK
Think Disney for dogs. We aren't just selling toys; we're creating the joy, connection, and delightful chaos that defines the bond between dogs and their people. At our core, we believe dogs make life better, and we're on a mission to return the favor by building THE Dog Company.
We operate at the intersection of data, technology, and pure creativity. We move fast, test relentlessly, and use real feedback from millions of pups to build smarter systems, better products, and more meaningful experiences. We're looking for people who want to challenge the status quo and help us invent what's next for dogs and their humans.
THE TEAM
The Creative team produces the work people see everywhere BARK shows up, from product launches and retail displays to ads, email, social, and bark.co. This role owns the operational side of that work. You'll partner with Creative, Marketing, agencies, photographers, and freelancers to make sure projects are well planned, resources are in the right place, and great creative launches on time.
WHO WE'RE SNIFFING FOR
You're an experienced creative producer who sees the whole picture. You know how to keep complex projects moving, but you're just as interested in improving the systems behind them. You don't wait for someone else to fix a process. You simplify it.
You're comfortable making recommendations, pushing back when timelines don't make sense, and helping teams make smart tradeoffs. People trust you because you're organized, pragmatic, and calm under pressure.
You look for practical ways to use AI and automation to eliminate repetitive work, improve visibility, and give creative teams more time to focus on making great work. And, of course, you're excited to build experiences for dogs and the people who love them.
KEY DUTIES
  • Own end-to-end creative production for marketing campaigns, product launches, and photo and video shoots, ensuring every launch is delivered on time, on budget, and at a high creative standard.
  • Build and continuously improve the production systems that keep creative work organized, visible, and moving. Look for opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual work, and introduce smarter tools where they add value.
  • Build and grow BARK's network of creative partners, including agencies, photographers, directors, editors, and freelancers. Scout new talent as our creative needs evolve, making sure we have the right people to scale great work without growing the internal team.
  • Own production budgets, agency and freelancer relationships, and resource planning, giving leadership a clear view of spend, capacity, and tradeoffs.
  • Maintain the team's production roadmap in Monday.com, ensuring priorities, timelines, ownership, and project status are accurate and easy for everyone to understand.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5-8 years of experience in creative production, marketing operations, or project management supporting integrated marketing and brand campaigns.
  • Experience producing photo and video shoots from pre-production through final asset delivery, including managing timelines, budgets, vendors, and creative partners.
  • A track record of building and improving production workflows while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience sourcing, managing, and building relationships with agencies, freelancers, photographers, and other creative partners.
  • Strong working knowledge of Monday.com or a similar project management platform.
  • Good creative judgment and an understanding of what high-quality brand work looks like across photography, digital, retail, email, and web.
  • Experience using AI and automation to simplify production workflows, improve planning, or reduce manual work.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with the confidence to influence decisions, surface risks early, and keep projects moving.
  • This is a full-time role based in New York, NY. We offer competitive compensation, equity, and benefits designed to support both you and your pack, including comprehensive healthcare, pet wellness coverage, and the flexibility and support you need to do your best work.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
  • The base salary range for this position is $110,000- $135,000
  • This position is eligible for equity.
