Position Summary

About Us

Creswell Richardson is a UL508A-certified industrial control panel fabricator and industrial distributor based in Chattanooga, TN. We've been powering industry for over 55 years, serving customers across automation, manufacturing, and processing industries. Our team builds complex control panels to demanding specifications and takes pride in quality craftsmanship and on-time delivery.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Panel Builder / Electrical Technician who can work on the shop floor building panels and also step into a project coordination and quoting role. This is a dual-function position - you'll spend time hands-on in fabrication and time supporting the front end of our panel building business by estimating labor, managing project timelines, and communicating with customers.

This is an exempt position.

What You'll Do

  • Fabricate, wire, and assemble industrial control panels to UL508A standards and customer-supplied drawings.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring, terminations, component mounting, and labeling.
  • Develop labor and material estimates for panel building quotes.
  • Manage project scope, scheduling, and progress updates for active panel builds.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and customers on technical requirements, change orders, and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain documentation including BOMs, wiring logs, and revision tracking.
  • Support inspection and testing prior to shipment.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building industrial control panels.
  • Familiarity with UL508A standards (certification a plus).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience estimating or quoting panel fabrication projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills - you'll interact directly with customers.
  • Self-starter who can work independently without constant supervision.
  • Must have knowledge of how to use cad programs.
  • Knowledge of how to build pneumatic control panels, assembly of pipe fittings and basics of soldiering joints.
  • Be prepared to meet with customers on site to analyze projects and commission equipment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell preferred)
  • Background in industrial automation or systems integration
  • Familiarity with shop documentation and ERP/quoting tools
