Job description

Overview

The Industrial Automation Control Panel Builder will have the capabilities to read and interpret electrical drawing packages to independently fabricate high quality industrial automation control panels.

Regular Schedule: Monday - Thursday (10 hours/days)

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, build, wire, and test industrial control panels.
  • Responsible for shop floor quality control, including inspection, testing, documentation, and UL certification requirements.
  • Check-in and track project material.
  • Communicate with shop supervisor, project managers, engineers, and customers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure internal and client defined standards and scope are maintained.
  • Assist with managing shop supplies and project inventory.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Analyze and comprehend electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and physical layout drawings.
Qualifications

Hands-on experience in fabricating, building, wiring, testing, and inspecting control panels:

  • Ability to wire using elementaries and point to point wiring diagrams.
  • Skilled in providing mechanical build (layout of backplate, drilling, tapping, component layout)
  • Ability to use appropriate hand tools and power tools.
  • In-depth comprehension of common electrical components such as breakers, disconnect switches, starters, relays, timers, PLCs, VFDs, contactors, overloads, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of UL508A and NEC. Experience building and inspecting panels to these standards.
  • Proficient understanding of circuits and industrial automation electronics.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety rules and procedures, including OSHA.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an ability to work carefully and accurately.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Years of Experience Required:

5-10 years of experience in Industrial Automation Control Panel fabrication and wiring for panels incorporating industrial IO, PLC and VFD automation panels.

Essential Functions
  • Must be able to lift and move up to a 50-pound load.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (majority of work will be conducted from a standing position).
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
