Job description

Davis Audio Visual is hiring a Senior Audio Visual Technician. You will be the lead on site for event setups at hotels, conference spaces, and client venues across the Wasatch Front, and one of our lead show techs.

This role supports all Davis clients. There will be more crew work days (set, strike, load-in, load-out, and gear prep/repair) than show tech days. Show tech assignments come to you first and pay at a higher show tech rate, but they are not the majority of the job. This suits a senior technician who wants steady full-time work, lead responsibility, and the show days when they come. This role is not a fit for someone who only wants show tech days.

Hours vary week to week with the event schedule. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup and strike of assigned events end to end, at any venue.
  • Direct the assigned crew on site: sequence the work, set the pace, and call the room show-ready.
  • Operate shows as assigned as A1, V1, or lead tech.
  • Verify signal flow, power, and equipment placement before the client walks in.
  • Pull, prep, and test gear for complex shows before it leaves the warehouse.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and room problems on site, at venues and event types you have not worked before.
  • Train and coach junior technicians on set, strike, and equipment handling standards.
  • Work directly with meeting planners, hotel contacts, and end clients during sets and on show day.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of live event AV experience.
  • Able to independently lead a room setup from load-in through show-ready.
  • Able to operate a show as A1 or V1.
  • Proficient in multiple video switchers, analog and digital mixers, cameras, lighting types, and signal flow.
  • Professional, client-facing demeanor in hotel and corporate environments.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Schedule & Pay

  • Full-time, variable hours.
  • Hours vary week to week with the event schedule; evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.
  • Paid time off and sick time.
  • Final starting rate is based on demonstrated experience and technical ability.
  • $28–$35 per hour crew rate, plus $50–$60 per hour show tech rate

Preferred, Not Required

  • Ability to run V1 on complex shows.
  • Experience leading crews at hotel and conference venues or large corporate events.
  • Experience training or mentoring junior technicians.

Interviewing process

  • A practical, skills based interview will be part of the hiring process.

Why Work at Davis Audio Visual

  • You are the lead, not one of forty. You run the room and the crew, and the Owner and Operations Manager know your work by name.
  • Show tech work stays in house. It goes to our own senior technicians before it goes to freelancers, and it pays at the show tech rate.
  • We do not cap you at the hotel AV lead rate. Our crew rate starts above where most hotel AV lead bands top out, and show days pay well beyond it.
  • Corporate meetings, conferences, and general sessions at hotel and conference venues throughout the Wasatch Front, plus bands and festivals as needed.

Davis Audio Visual is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
