Job Description

The Senior Design Sculptor - Digital Technical is a studio expert responsible for developing highquality digital surfaces that bring advanced design concepts to life. In this role, you will guide sculpting teams across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with aesthetic targets, engineering requirements, and global modeling standards. You'll collaborate closely with design, engineering, and crossfunctional partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance surface development processes. This role also plays a key part in mentoring talent, driving continuous improvement, and integrating new technologies into studio workflows.

What You'll Do
  • Develop highquality aesthetic digital surfaces that meet Design intent, engineering requirements, and GVDP quality standards.

  • Execute digital models to program timelines while ensuring accuracy, surface integrity, and data readiness for release.

  • Mentor sculpting teams on modeling techniques, best practices, and new digital tools to elevate studio capability.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and influence 3D solutions.

  • Lead and participate in peer reviews, providing expert feedback on surface construction and continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to digital SMS forums, helping shape training strategies, workflow enhancements, and process alignment.

  • Reinforce studio data management standards and corporate systems (e.g., Teamcenter, SharePoint) across teams.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.

  • 8+ years of digital modeling or sculpting experience in a design studio environment.

  • Expert proficiency with digital sculpting tools such as Alias, VRED, HMD, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate 2D sketches and design intent into refined 3D surfaces.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence and guide crossfunctional teams.

  • Experience mentoring others in digital sculpting techniques, workflows, and modeling standards.

  • Ability to meet GVDP requirements, adhere to global processes, and work effectively under compressed timelines.
