Job description

The Transportation Supervisor coordinates transportation customer service and carrier relations across all North American fascias. This role manages service opportunities, carrier performance, claims, loss prevention, and Return to Vendor (RTV) processes. Acting as a cross-functional liaison, this position supports new store openings, remodels, and closures, while utilizing data tracking to continuously improve operational efficiency. This individual will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following key duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive operational performance by establishing clear expectations, frequently reviewing performance, anticipating challenges, and holding individuals accountable.
  • 1 Direct report: Transportation Specialist
  • Develop carrier and fascia relationships to ensure product flow and movement is as efficient as possible.
  • Compile and analyze current and historical service issues and claims to monitor trends, provide root cause analysis, and drive operational improvement plans.
  • Align Stakeholders: Influence internal partners to adopt operational solutions.
  • Create and maintain/improve SOP's quarterly.
  • Tedious attention to detail and organization with real estate process timelines, account & systems setup.
  • Author and refine standard operating procedures on a quarterly basis.
  • Knowledge and enforcement of transportation regulations (e.g., DOT/FMCSA compliance, safety standards).
  • Streamline the Return to Vendor workflows and deliver performance reports.
  • Leverage Systems: Utilize BI, PCSTrac, and Proship to track team inputs and performance metrics.
  • Problem-solving abilities (e.g., root cause analysis, clear communication in remedies, financial result analysis).
  • Cross-Train: Master TMS and fleet operations to back up peer Transportation Supervisors.
  • Regular physical attendance is essential for the performance of the job.
  • Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
  • Champion change initiatives and continuous improvement while maintaining operational effectiveness and success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate's degree and equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Transportation Operations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Supervisor/Management experience
  • Self-directed and goal-oriented
  • Retail Distribution and Fulfillment knowledge preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, WMS, TMS, and PowerPoint.
