Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Student Programs Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Affairs. The Senior Student Programs Coordinator for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs (OFSA) is an administrative lead and functional expert responsible for the operational oversight, accountability, and performance assessment of a community comprising 4,000 students and 75+ chapters. This position reports to the Director.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Provides expert advisement to two governing councils and maintains direct oversight of 30-35 chapters.
  • Manages the accountability and intervention portfolio for their assigned chapters.
  • Conducts 1:1 check-in meetings with presidents three times per semester and provides intensive performance coaching to organizations on "Special Status."
  • Assists with the scoring and evaluation process for the Annual Report and leads the development of high-impact student experiences, specifically the design and launch of the "Greek Alumni Exchange"-a flagship networking and mentorship initiative for juniors and seniors.
  • Serves as the departmental lead for assessment, responsible for managing all OFSA-wide data collection, student learning outcome analysis, and divisional reporting.
  • Ensures that departmental metrics align with broader University goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advising Foundation: Professional experience in Fraternity and Sorority Life or Student Activities-which may include graduate assistantships. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with undergraduate students and have a clear understanding of the current trends and challenges within a campus community.
  • Student Governance & Advising: Ability to provide effective advisement to student governing councils and manage the operational needs of a diverse portfolio of chapters. This includes helping student leaders navigate University policies, manage organizational transitions, and maintain community standards.
  • Assessment & Data Application: Proficiency in developing student affairs assessment tools (e.g., evaluations, rubrics, survey instruments) and maintaining organized departmental tracking systems. Ability to coordinate high-volume compliance records and translate assessment findings into meaningful reports that demonstrate program impact and community contribution. The candidate should be able to interpret data to help "tell the story "Of the fraternity and sorority experience to stakeholders.
  • Program Coordination: Experience in the end-to-end planning and execution of student programs. This includes the ability to manage the logistics of large-scale initiatives like Greek Service Week, officer orientations, and alumni-focused networking events.
  • Communication & Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective partnerships. The role requires clear communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including chapter presidents, national headquarters staff, alumni advisors, and campus partners (e.g., Student Conduct, CAPS, or the Dean of Students).
  • Mentorship & Supervision: A commitment to the professional growth of others, specifically the ability to provide work direction and project mentorship to a graduate-level field experience intern.
  • Operational Flexibility: Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule. Because the role is deeply integrated into student life, evening events, meetings and occasional weekend work for retreats or community events are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience Level: Ideally 1-3 years of professional experience in Student Affairs (including graduate-level work).
  • Community Insight: Affiliation or membership in a fraternity or sorority is preferred, providing a helpful perspective on the values, traditions, and organizational structures of the Greek community.
  • Inclusive Advising: A demonstrated commitment to supporting a diverse fraternity and sorority community. This includes an interest in working with and understanding the distinct needs of MGC, NPHC, NIC, NPC, and PFC organizations.
  • Professional Engagement: Evidence of involvement in professional associations such as AFA, NASPA, or ACPA, or a desire to contribute to the broader field of student affairs through continued professional development.
  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to navigate sensitive or challenging student leadership situations with professional judgment and empathy, focusing on student growth and accountability.
